Plastic Man is an upcoming American superhero film based on character of the same name by Jack Cole set in the DC Extended Universe.

Premise

Patrick “Eel” O’Brian was part of a gang's botched heist where he was doused with a chemical liquid and awakens to find himself imbued with the power to shape-shift and stretch his body into almost anything, thanks to being the most malleable man alive.

Production

Development

A live-action feature film featuring Plastic Man was in the works in 1992. It would have been produced by Amblin Entertainment, Warner Bros., and DreamWorks SKG, written by The Wachowskis, and to be directed by Brian Spicer, following the success of 1989's Batman.^[1] Nothing was made official until 14 years later, following the box-office disaster of The Wachowskis' Speed Racer, they decided to resurrect the old script and make the film with a release date set for December 2009. Both Jim Carrey and Bruce Campbell were considered for the role, until it was announced that Keanu Reeves would play Plastic Man. Nothing came out of this proposed 2009 film either. On December 7, 2018, Warner Bros hired Amanda Idoko to write a new script and Bob Shaye will produce the film.^[2] On December 4, 2020, Cat Vasko was hired to write a female-driven script.^[3]
