Shaun Huckleston is a popular urban legend originating from Waterlooville, England. It is a story about a young boy named Finley who lived in a small town, going to school, college and work like everybody else. However, this boy held a dark secret, inside of him was a split personality, one evil and twisted. It is said that on the 24th Tuesday of the year, Shaun comes out of hiding and steals the souls of the living who had wronged him in the past year.[1]
History
editThe urban legend of Shaun became popularised around 2022, however, there are reports of the story being shared around as early as 2006[2]. It made a feature in the popular British newspaper 'The News - Portsmouth' in 2022 after its initial rise to popularity, and in this locals of Waterlooville were interviewed. Some statements from the residents to note from this are:
"Yeah, I had heard of this story late last year (2021)… It was quite scary to hear about for the first time, yeah. It got me questioning if I had said anything that could have upset someone over the past year, I really don't want my soul to be stolen." - Andrea, Resident of Havant, England. (23 Years old) [2]
"I don't believe in this stupid myth, however, I think it should stick around if it means that people will finally be nice to me." - Mark, Resident of Portsmouth, England (76 Years old)[2]
"I don't understand why people would come up with a false story about me, I would prefer if people didn't think that I was possessed by some evil spirit. Besides, If I was possessed by an evil spirit, I definitely would not be telling anyone, don't wanna become a science experiment." - Finley, Resident of Waterlooville (18 Years old)[2]
