Sprouts or Sprouts Schools is a YouTube channel[1] created by Jonas Koblin and Selina Bador. The channel produces videos that touch on many different topics of social sciences, psychology, and neurosciences [2]. It focuses on psychological theories that explain human behaviour, on the explanation of disorders such as ADHD or Autism, made simple for everyone to understand.
The goal is to make education accessible worldwide, which is why Sprouts videos have already been translated in 15 languages [3].
Besides getting support from Patreon, Sprouts is also funded by YouTube ads and Sprouts Learning[4], a social enterprise that operates the Sprouts Kindergarten in central Bangkok, and published Mali [5], an app for new parents.

Jonas Koblin and Selina Bador are siblings who took a particular interest in education and in the accessibility of education. The videos of Sprouts are produced by a team of freelancers and volunteers who share a deep passion for improving education.
Channel
editSprouts videos are all about social sciences, psychology and neurosciences, with many episodes such as Attachment Theory or Autism Spectrum. Each video's scientific concepts are researched thoroughly and the concepts are based on data and findings published in peer-reviewed papers. The concepts are conveyed using colored drawings and a voice-over narration accompanied by instrumental music.
The most viewed video on the channel is currently The Pygmalion Effect with 17 700 000 views as of February 2024. Their videos are used in classrooms and universities to explain concepts of psychology to students, mark of the scientific rigor and accuracy behind their explanations.
Videos are currently translated in 15 languages other than English: German, Spanish, Thai, Persian, Turkish, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, French, Romanian, Farsi, Italian, Bulgarian, Portuguese, Urdu, Hindi and Esperanto, to make Sprouts' videos as accessible as possible.
Collaborations
editSprouts has collaborated with researchers and scientists to write their videos. For example the video Universe 25 was written by Dr Edmund Ramnsden[6] of the Queen Mary University of London and edited by Will Wales, a London based author and journalist.
ADHD was written with Dr Ludovico Saint Amour di Chanaz[7][8], diagnosed with ADHD, behind the TikTok and Instagram channels brain.curiosites[9]. The video combines the lived experience of patients with ADHD and scientific information based on peer-reviewed resources.
Statistics
editAs of February 9th 2024 Sprouts have 1.6 million subscribers and have released 155 videos.[10]
Their videos are played in 126 countries worldwide.
Other work
editSprouts also creates several exercises on the website teachers pay teachers[11] to help improve education in classrooms.
Honours
editOn March 12-15th 2024, the Tromso Educational Film Festival[12] (TREFF) will feature the video Attachment Theory as one of the contenders for best educational film.
