St. Xavier's U.P. School, Velur is an aided school located in Velur, a village in the Kunnamkulam sub-district under the Chavakadu education district of the Thrissur revenue district in Kerala, India. The school, which is run by the Thrissur Corporate Educational Agency, was established in 1903.
History
editSt. Xavier's U.P. School was founded in 1903 on the land historically associated with Arnos Pathiri. It began as a Lower Primary School and grew into an Upper Primary School. In 1920, the Upper Primary section was started under the leadership of K.A. Venkateswarayar, who became the first headmaster of the UP section. The school was managed by a local committee, and Olakkengkil Parinjunni served as manager until his death in 1948.
The early headmasters included notable figures such as Professor Joseph Mundassery Kical Varghese and Kunhiporinchumaster from Chovannur Manali.
