The International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (abbreviated as IBTrACS) is a database of tropical cyclones active from 1848 in all basins of tropical activity. It was created to collect all historical tropical cyclone best-track data from the Regional Specialized Meteorological Centers (RSMCs) and other agencies, combine all datasets into one general database, and convert them into a widely-used format. It is maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).[1][2] The best track data provided in IBTrACS are the quality-tested positions and intensities (minimum central pressure with maximum sustained winds) of each storm, all of which are the approximate average position and intensity from available forecast centers every six hours.[3][4]
