The Laufey Book Club is community and book club founded by the singer/songwriter Laufey.[1] The book club started in August 2022, and quickly grew. It now has 110,000 followers on Instagram and 20,000 members on its discord server.[2] Each month Laufey chooses a book for the club to read and then discuss at the end of the month

Origin

Inspired by her appreciation for art and storytelling, Laufey created the club to foster a sense of community among her fans by connecting them through reading. The club reflects her belief in the importance of creativity and emotional expression across different mediums.

Structure

The Laufey Book Club operates primarily through online platforms allowing members from around the world to particiapte. Each month, Laufey announces a book selection, often highlighting works that align with her values, including classic literature, modern fiction, and poetry. Members participate in discussions via social media, dedicated forums, or livestream sessions where Laufey shares her thoughts on the chosen book. Sometimes Laufey will even do "pop up" vists to local book stores and hold a mini in person meeting.[3]

Impact

The Club has gotten a dedicated following, with members praising it for introducing them to new literary works and providing a space to connect with others. Beyond promoting reading, the club has become an extension of Laufey's artistic philosophy, emphizing the interplay between literature and music forms of emotional storytelling.[4]
