Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mendedo serves with Lutheran Bible Translators as Associate Executive Director. Tilahun was born on March 13, 1971 in Iteya, Arssi (West Oromiya) and raised in Nazareth (Adama) Ethiopia.
He has served as the seventh president of Concordia College Alabama from January 2010-June 30, 2016.
Prior to assuming the presidency, Dr. Mendedo served as the pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Mobile, Alabama, and taught as an adjunct professor of Philosophy at the University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College in Mobile. During his ministry in his native country, Ethiopia, he served as an evangelist, elder, teacher, project director, and curriculum advisor, contributing to the growth of The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus, the fastest growing Lutheran Denomination with 12.5 million members in the world. He has had opportunities to provide leadership training for Lutheran churches in Africa, Germany, England, Canada, and the United States.
Dr. Mendedo is a member of the LCMS Southern District Mission Committee, board member of African Radio Ministry (ARM), President of the Master Builders Center, Coordinator of the Lutheran translation works in Ethiopia, Executive Board Member of the Lutheran Educational Conference of North America (LECNA) and the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (AAICU). He has academic memberships in the American Missiology Society, Evangelical Missiological Society, Lutheran Society of Missiology, and other Academic Societies in the United States.
