Kanian Khurd is a village in Shahkot in the Jalandhar district of Punjab State, India. Kalan is a Persian language word meaning "big" while Khurd means "small". When two villages share the same name, they are distinguished as Kalan (big), and Khurd (small), with the village name. It is located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Shahkot, 17 kilometres (11 mi) from Nakodar, 44 kilometres (27 mi) from the district headquarters in Jalandhar, and 174 kilometres (108 mi) from the state capital, Chandigarh. The village is administrated by a sarpanch, who is an elected representative of village according to the Panchayati raj (India).
