Eight crew in a third boat did not find St Helena and headed for Brazil; on 31 August the Dutch ship Java Packet picked up five survivors (two had drowned in a capsize and a third had sacrificed himself to feed the others) and landed them at Batavia, Dutch East Indies on 2 November.[10][11][12] |
