The Ministry of Internal Revenue (Indonesian: Kementerian Penerimaan Negara, lit. 'Ministry of State Revenue'), is an upcoming ministry in Prabowo Cabinet tasked for collecting Indonesian taxes, customs, and excise and administering the Indonesian Internal Revenue Code (which currently regulated by Omnibus Law for Harmonization of Taxation Regulations, Law No. 7/2021). The existence of this ministry announced by Prabowo Subianto on 25 September 2024. Prabowo asserted that this ministry will be exist in his incoming administration.[1][2][3]

This ministry is the result of future spin-off of the Directorate General of Taxes and Directorate General of Customs and Excise.[2] Once fully established, this ministry will be Indonesian counterpart of United States Internal Revenue Service.
History
editIn December 2023, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, then vice-presidential candidate, voiced his intention to combine Directorate General of Taxes and Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance.[4] He voiced his intention in the vice-presidency candidacy debate.[5] In their campaign, Prabowo and Gibran confirmed to do so. According to Drajad Wibowo, member of Board of Experts of Prabowo-Gibran campaign, this fusion intended to maximize the state revenue through the tax, customs, and excise.[6]
It is confirmed that the Minister of Internal Revenue will be named by Prabowo on 20 September 2024.[7]
