1870 - Louise Michel (pictured) takes part in a demonstration organized to protest yesterday's arrest of the Blanquists Eudes & Brideau. She carries a petition (begun by Michelet) in their favor, to General Trochu, military governor of Paris.
1920 - In Florence, Italy, a national meeting of Italian anarchists is held to intensify solidarity & agitation for victims of political repression.
1928 - Spartaco Stagnetti, a militant trade union secretary and anarcho-syndicalist in Rome, Italy, dies, while banished by the fascists to the island of Ustica.
1939 - The fiftieth anniversary of Emma Goldman's entry into anarchist ranks; she organizes a celebration for September to mark the occasion & to create a long-term Spanish Relief Fund.
