November 1

  • 1991 - The Perfect Storm – a nor'easter that caused significant coastal damage in the northeastern United States – evolved into a minimal hurricane, but remained unnamed to reduce confusion. The system caused 12 deaths and US$200 million in damage.
  • 1995 - Typhoon Angela (pictured) moved through the Philippines with estimated 1-minute sustained winds of 285 km/h (180 mph) with a pressure of 910 hPa. Angela killed 936 people in total and causing about $315 million in damages.
  • 2024 - The 2024–25 Australian region and South Pacific cyclone seasons officially begins.

  • 1989 - Typhoon Gay (pictured) made the strongest ever-recorded landfall in Thailand, killing a total of 1,036 people.
  • 2015 - Cyclone Chapala became the strongest tropical cyclone on record to strike Yemen.
  • 2020 - Hurricane Eta made landfall in Nicaragua as a Category 4 hurricane, killing 211 people and causing damages of over US$7.9 billion.

  • 1988 - Typhoon Skip reached its peak intensity with 230 km/h (145 mph) winds just to the east of the Philippines. Skip made landfall soon after that, killing about 100 people.
  • 1996 - A powerful cyclone (pictured) made landfall over Andhra Pradesh in southeastern India, killing 1,077 people, with total damages amounting to $602 million.

November 7

  • 1984 - Hurricane Klaus made landfall in extreme eastern Puerto Rico shortly before it reached its peak intensity. Klaus brought heavy rain to the island, exceeding 635 mm (25 in) at Guavate Camp.
  • 1994 - Hurricane Florence reaches peak strength as a Category 2.
  • 2010 - Cyclone Jal (pictured) makes landfall near Tamil Nadu causing about $1.73 billion of damages.

November 8

  • 2008 - Hurricane Paloma reaches peak intensity as a Category 4 as it made landfall over Cuba.
  • 2013 - Typhoon Haiyan (pictured) made landfall in the Philippines as an intense Category 5 super typhoon, causing catastrophic damage and more than 6,000 deaths, becoming one of the most notable tropical cyclones ever documented.

  • 1995 - A cyclone (pictured) made landfall over Andhra Pradesh, causing widespread damage across much of the country, later spawning a rare snowstorm in Nepal. It killed 236 people along its path.

November 10

  • 2001 - Typhoon Lingling (pictured) reached its peak intensity in the South China Sea with a central pressure of 940 hPa (mbar) to the east of Vietnam which it made landfall on soon afterwards. Lingling was responsible for about 200 deaths in Vietnam and the Philippines.
  • 2015 - Cyclone Megh makes landfall over Yemen, and is regarded as one of the worst cyclones to strike Socotra. Megh killed 18 people and damaged about $1.9 billion.
  • 2022 - Hurricane Nicole became only the third hurricane on record to strike Florida in the month of November. Nicole left about $1 billion in damage.

November 11

  • 1961 - Typhoon Karen struck Guam near peak intensity, damaging or destroying 95% of the buildings on the island, and killing 11 people.
  • 2020 - Typhoon Vamco makes landfall over Luzon, Philippines as a weak typhoon. Vamco became the sixth costliest typhoon in the Philippines, with estimated damages of 20.3 billion (US$421 million).

  • 2006 - Hurricane Sergio reaches peak intensity as a Category 2 with winds of 175 km/h (110 mph), making it the third strongest Pacific hurricane on record in the month of November.
  • 2007 - Cyclone Sidr (pictured) made landfall on the Bangladeshi coast killing about 10,000 people and causing $1.7 billion of damage, becoming one of the worst natural disasters to ever strike Bangladesh.

  • 1985 - Typhoon Hazen reached its peak intensity of 955 hPa (mbar) to the west of Guam.
  • 1989 - Cyclone Barisaona (pictured) reaches its peak intensity as a Category 3 with 10-minute winds of 140 km/h (85 mph).

November 17

  • 1999 - Hurricane Lenny made landfall the island of Saint Croix at peak intensity causing extensive damage while maintaining an unprecedented west-east movement across the Caribbean Sea.
  • 2020 - Hurricane Iota (pictured) makes landfall over Nicaragua, killing 61 people and causing damages of over US$1.4 billion.

  • 1992 - Typhoon Gay (pictured) reached its peak intensity with winds of 300 km/h (185 mph) in the open Pacific Ocean.
  • 2015 - Typhoon In-fa reaches its peak strength as a Category 4 with 1-minute sustained winds of 220 km/h (140 mph) and a minimum pressure of 935 hPa.

November 22

  • 1981 - Typhoon Irma (pictured) reached its peak intensity with winds of 250 km/h (155 mph) in the Philippine Sea as it approached its landfall in the northern Philippines. Irma caused over 200 deaths on Luzon.
  • 2004 - Cyclone Bento rapidly intensifies into an intense Category 5 cyclone with 1-minute sustained winds of 260 km/h (160 mph) along with a pressure of 915 hPa, out in the Indian Ocean.

  • 1978 - A powerful cyclone (pictured) struck northeastern Sri Lanka, killing 915 people.
  • 1982 - Hurricane Iwa reached its peak intensity with winds of 145 km/h (90 mph) to the southwest of Hawaii. Iwa passed very close to the island of Kauai the next day causing about $200 million in damage.

  • 1969 - Hurricane Martha made landfall in Panama with 115 km/h (70 mph) winds, becoming the only mature tropical cyclone ever recorded to impact the country.
  • 2016 - Hurricane Otto (pictured) reaches peak strength as a Category 3 while making landfall in Nicaragua, causing over $190 million in damages and 23 fatalities. Otto was the first cyclone to crossover from the Atlantic basin to the East Pacific since 1996, and the first to retain its name while switching basins.

  • 1974 - Typhoon Irma reached its peak intensity with 215 km/h (135 mph) winds to the east of the Philippines.
  • 1990 - Cyclone Sina maintains strength as it affects Fiji, causing damages of up to $18.7 million.
  • 2003 - Typhoon Lupit (pictured) reached its maximum intensity as a Category 5 with 1-minute sustained winds of 270 km/h (165 mph). Lupit only caused minor damages over in the Pacific Islands.

  • 2006 - Typhoon Durian (pictured) made several landfalls in the central Philippines killing over 720 people and causing over $100 million in damage. Durian made landfall in Vietnam a week later, killing 80 people and causing an additional $400 million in damage.
  • 2024 - The Atlantic hurricane and Pacific hurricane seasons officially end.
