DYK?
editYou know, though this doesn't appear likely to crack ITN, another possible venue would be WP:DYK. It's an interesting subject. Khazar2 (talk) 06:03, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Only 2 1/2 rotations ?
editIn the video, I count only two and a half rotations. Not three. Can someone explain how that should be 1080 degrees (3 x 360° = 1080° but 2.5 x 360° = 900°)? Alandeus (talk) 16:14, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- If this is not clarified, then the "1080" claim cannot be held. This reference ought to be removed then. Alandeus (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- Count again. He's facing away from the camera when he starts his run, and he's facing away from the camera when he finishes it. That requires full rotations; if he'd done a 900, he'd be facing the camera when he was finished. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:00, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
- I stand corrected. Depending on the camera angle, his body is towards (or correspondingly away) the camera going up and coming back down. Guess I was fooled by the way his face was facing, which itself of course switched directions after turning only 2 1/2 times. Alandeus (talk) 09:21, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Horizontal plane?
editThe wording "1080 degrees rotation in the horizontal plane" doesn't make sense to me. It seems the axis of rotation is horizontal. Ntsimp (talk) 17:58, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
- The horizontal plane is the plane of the skateboards surface or the direction of travel. The axis around which is rotated is the vertical body of the rider. True, At the top of the jump, the axis has been tipped to the horizontal for the viewer, but rotation is still horizontal for the skateboard. Alandeus (talk) 07:17, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
Jonathan Schwan, non-Scharr 1080s
editI noticed somebody added a 1080 supposedly performed by a certain "Jonathan Schwan" to the "Successful Landings" section. The Youtube link cited as a reference was dead, and though Schwan is a real vert skater I could not find any record of him having done a 1080, so I removed him from the list. Please let me know if you can confirm this because I would be megastoked if somebody other than Tom Scharr is doing 1080s now. I also broke the reflist. I'm working on that. --TheRealTedBundy (talk) 20:29, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Heres another link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxWQn5rxGvU Next time search the internet before you start deleting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.52.190 (talk) 21:05, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
Hey hey, I tried to search but didn't find it. I'll re-edit the page, don't trip. --TheRealTedBundy (talk) 00:01, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
I've re-added Jonathan Schwan's successful land of the 1080. It took me only 5 minutes to find videos. I wasn't impressed that my original edit adding him and the successful landings section was just deleted. Please search before merely deleting added content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.132.37.149 (talk) 18:26, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Snowboarding 1080
editI just read about Chloe Kim's multiple 1080's on the snowboard: (New York Times). It would be interesting to have a comparison between skateboarding and snowboarding stunts. --Austrian (talk) 17:35, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
