Talk:10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman

WP:UNDUE

edit

There seems to be undue weight on response videos and criticism. I do not believe the response videos were stressed to this degree in the reliable sources covering this topic, and the reliable sources do not seem to be presenting the reception to this video as exclusively critical, as the current version of article does. --BoboMeowCat (talk) 23:47, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article is full of non-RS. The video received serious coverage, so we should stick to those publications as far as possible. We can use less authoritative ones if they say something that moves things forward, but otherwise there's no point. Sarah (talk) 23:50, 17 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
I think the chart for the response videos should be removed and the text regarding them trimmed and summarized. The response videos section currently take up most of the article which seems undue. Also, I'm not sure we should be reporting the results of these response videos in chart format as official results like this, because unlike the original video which was produced by a known foundation who is vouching for it's authenticity, the response videos appear to be by random people with no vouching for authenticity. --BoboMeowCat (talk) 15:02, 18 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. The response videos section should be trimmed down considerably per UNDUE. The chart should also be excised as it repeats information already included in prose, is ungainly, and distracts from the primary topic. gobonobo + c 20:16, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Male model recieving "harassment" & spoof videos in general

edit

I think the description on the male model video should reflect at least some of the criticism that's directed at it instead of solely praising it:

"To say he received the same level of harassment as the woman in the Hollaback video however is stretching it a little bit. The fact that while introducing the video Koby continually uses air quotes when saying ‘harassment’ in relation to the original video suggests they didn’t exactly start off with an unbiased point of view."[1]

"Model Pranksters, as the name implies, is a film making organization that sends male models to play tricks on people while another crew member secretly videotapes it. Most of their stunts focus on people's general reactions to "hot model types." [...] It is clear from the intro to the video featuring the group's founder Coby Persin that the intent was to debunk the Hollaback! video by proving that the same thing happens to attractive men as he used the word "harassment" in air quotes several times before presenting the footage. [...] Assuming that nothing in this video was fabricated, it would in fact prove that a handsome man faces a certain degree of his own "harassment," which deserves recognition and should be addressed just as we should address sexual harassment against women. However, making the case that the man in this video faced the same level of sexual harassment as Shoshana Roberts is difficult, as the not-so-secret admirers in the Hollaback! video appeared much more invasive and aggressive."[2]

As a newbie on editing I'm not very comfortable making this change immediately though.

I did change the wording on the hipster video as it's clearly a spoof, and doing that I noticed that all the spoof videos are ordered above the more interesting recreations of the video. I think the priority should be the other way around.

And lastly I tried finding information on whether the lawsuit actually ended up in anything, but failed.
