The controversy here is with Citizen Kane and How Green Was My Valley alone; The Maltese Falcon doesn't belong as part of this "controversy." Furthermore, by noting Citizen Kane and The Maltese Falcon as "both consistently regarded among the greatest films ever made," it implies that How Green Was My Valley is not highly regarded today - this is absurd.
