The result of the move request was: consensus to move the pages as requested, per the discussion below. Dekimasuよ! 01:44, 5 February 2018 (UTC) Addendum: It has been pointed out to me that the discussion supported moving to "1788–1789" titles rather than "1788–89" titles, so I have moved these along to those locations. - Strongly support, as that's already the title format for the main election page, and this title would be more accurate. Heck, maybe even speedily move it. Thankfully, as the only "in-two-different-years" U.S. presidential election, there's no other U.S. presidential-elections-in-states pages like this with the same problem. - Actually, STRONGLY SUPPORT moving these (and main election page) TO "1788–1789". Per MOS:DATERANGE, "1788–1789" is preferred to "1788–89". Fully agree with Randy below. Heck, these could even be speedily moved. Any objections? Paintspot Infez (talk) 21:43, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Paintspot: Given that you can see that discussion is ongoing below, I fail to see how you could think WP:SNOW could be applicable. 142.161.81.20 (talk) 22:07, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, I see your point. I apologize. A tad bit of an overreaction on my part. Paintspot Infez (talk) 01:12, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- No worries, and sorry if I came across as a bit intense there. I just wanted to make sure the discussion wasn't suddenly closed. 142.161.81.20 (talk) 01:15, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

- Support per nom, Paintspot, and accuracy, although I think a recent "ruling" somewhere said to include full years (so it would be 1788-1789). Thanks to the nominator for bringing this issue to RM. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:48, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- Comment – @601:241:300:C930:D19C:5CC7:406F:AB8A, Paintspot, and Randy Kryn: Would this not go against the precedent in other articles such as Canadian federal election, 2006? And I agree with Randy Kryn that if this change were to be made, the full year would have to be used. 142.161.81.20 (talk) 21:30, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- The 2006 Canadian election occurred in 2006. In this American election voting began in 1788 and continued into 1789. Randy Kryn (talk) 21:39, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Randy Kryn: Did the voting to elect the president himself continue through both calendar years, or does that include voting for electing electoral college delegates? (I ask because it was hard to tell from the article.) 142.161.81.20 (talk) 21:55, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
- In the first few elections held, there was no specific "election day" and no universal standard of states holding a general election at all to determine how its electoral college votes would be delegated. Rather, in several states, this allocation was made by the state legislature, subject to processes like town hall meetings in which various populations sent instructions to their legislators. The process went on for a while. bd2412 T 04:01, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
