Greatest Playoff Upset
editI removed a sentence which stated that the Atlanta Falcons beating the Minnesota Vikings is widely considered the greatest playoff upset of all time. I removed it because it wasn't sourced and is a really dubious statement at that. Who says this? It was a two seed beating a one seed, which isn't all that remarkable. Minnesota had an amazing offense that year and the game was an upset, but biggest ever? It is a notable game, I believe it is referred to as the "Gary Anderson field goal game," but notable as being yet another Minnesota playoff melt down. There have been bigger upsets. The Giants beating the then undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl was a bigger upset by any measure. So unless a columnist called it the greatest upset ever and the editor wishes to say "so and so called it the greatest upset ever" it's a meaningless statement. The statement of something being 'widely considered' is a poorly written weisel statement that should be avoided without sources.12.186.80.1 (talk) 20:12, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
The Catch II

Hi, I have a proposed article for this moment at Draft:The Catch II, as I feel this game is significant in NFL lore and requires its own article. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Malcolm L. Mitchell (talk) 02:52, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- We need to demonstrate WP:SUSTAINED coverage of the play. As it is, the page is currently more about the game itself, and then some coverage on The Play III.—Bagumba (talk) 12:33, 4 January 2021 (UTC)
- Bagumba, thank you for the feedback. I could really use some help putting this article together, I think it has a place on here as a stand alone subject. It's been a deeply discussed game for years now in NFL history regarding Terrell Owens and the 49ers franchise. Thanks. Malcolm L. Mitchell (talk) 01:35, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- Malcolm L. Mitchell: Take a look at the sources at Holy Roller (American football). If you can show that there is significant coverage of the play years after, and not just passing mention, there would be justification for considering a spinoff. Then there would need to be enough content that would make it WP:UNDUE to put on the playoff article. I can help review an updated draft.—Bagumba (talk) 02:01, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

- Support splitting it off. Just to be clear, Draft:The Catch II can cover the game itself, which became notable for it's dramatic ending. This is similar to Fail Mary and other game articles where one play made the game notable. There has been sustained coverage, which is demonstrated in the sources on the page. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 19:27, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- Support given consensus with other plays recently like Hail Murray. Plenty of coverage and had WP:IMPACT in part with it inspiring a rules change. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 14:05, 29 January 2021 (UTC)
Image Colors Wrong
editThe map displaying playoff teams has red blips for the NFC and blue blips for the AFC. This isn't a pre-2000 election, the NFC has always been blue. My family are Viking's fans so I've got plenty of merch with a blue NFC logo. Jpalmer18 (talk) 06:26, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
