Problem

edit

One problem has arisen here, the Tropical Cyclone Reports for 1998 are not on the JTWC TCR page. It goes from 1997 to 1999, 98 is missing. If anyone has the link to its location please put it here so the article can be expanded. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 18:20, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks Ramisses. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 18:41, 20 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you try emailing IMD? Whether or not they'll help you is a longshot, but I know they have more information that's not found on the internet. See if they have best track data, minimum pressures and maximum winds, documents presented at WMO meetings, etc. If this is the first season to use the new scale, then it should probably reflect that. Potapych (talk) 13:29, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll give it a try, do you have their email address? If I do get a response though, I doubt it would be within a few weeks. Cyclonebiskit 13:37, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I would try the first one from IMD (on page 82) and see if that leads anywhere[2]. Potapych (talk) 13:52, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
The IMD do have BT but you have to give them over $100 USD for the whole lot. Jason Rees (talk) 16:21, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just noticed - there is a land depression in September 1998 missing from this seasons writeup. http://www.imd.gov.in/section/nhac/dynamic/freq_cyclone.htm Im not gonna be pathetic and lower it down to a stub though.Jason Rees (talk) 02:53, 3 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

A few comments

edit
  • Nearly every section begins with "On X, the JTWC began monitoring..."
  • Try to avoid passive voice whenever possible; I understand that it can be difficult, but I see several areas where this can be addressed.
