The article states that the ceremony held in "29 May 1949 at the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square, in London" was for "films shown in the United Kingdom in 1947 and 1948." However were the first awards not only for the 1947 films and the 2nd British Academy Film Awards (held on the same day and essentially the same event I think) the ones for the 1948 films? Certainly the winners were all first shown in the UK in 1947. The 2nd British Academy Film Awards article would seem to deal with the awards covering the 1948 films. Thus I wonder if this needs clarified. Indeed if the first two awards were made at the same event on the same day I wonder if there would be any merit in having one article covering both - eg 1st and 2nd British Academy Film Awards? That said I can understand why people may feel that having an article for each year of the BAFTAs is neater and possible easier for navigation. Dunarc (talk) 20:57, 9 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
If I understand you correctly, then I agree that one article should deal with the ceremony, rather than films of X year and films of Y year. I haven’t run through any sources to check though. If the evening was divided in two, then I would understand the reason to separate them, but I suspect some editor just got carried away with having an article for every number from 1 to… whatever. — HTGS (talk)22:54, 9 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
