Bracket is wrong
editBracket is wrong, winner of Play-off game will play against AFC Champions League Champion, not against Copa Libertadores winner LDU Quito. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.81.202.117 (talk) 06:44, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
OFC
editThere are now 5 clubs remaining in the OFC because the last place team in group A has no mathematical chance of winning that group, no matter what happens in the remaining games.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.24.44.188 (talk) 16:43, 20 February 2008
All of you seems are FORCING me quit or FORBIDDING me editing Wikipedia by IGNORING me, aren't you?
editWhat are all of you wanting? I have ask all of the contributors who know how to design to add the fifth-placed match, which is reintroduced this year, to the bracket template for not then ten times in these two months. However, my opinion is being ignored and removed, on today by a cleanup - Okay, tell me what do you want? I felt unrespected and furious now. Raymond "Giggs" Ko 16:30, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- You're not being ignored. It just seems that no one knows how to fulfil your request. – PeeJay 19:51, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Confusion
editRegarding the very same cleanup noted in the above section, I would first like to address the issue that User:PeeJay2K3 has linked all the dates once again. Wikipedia:Mosnum has recently outlined new rules that dates will no longer be linked, so I will revert those changes. Regarding the J. League representative for the Club World Cup, it is clearly outlined below the qualifying teams that "If Gamba Osaka win the AFC CL, this spot will be taken by Adelaide United as the highest-placed non-Japanese team in the AFC CL." This means that it might not necessarily be a Japanese team that plays in the first play-off against Waitakerie United, therefore a Japanese flag icon should not be used. I will not revert PeeJay's changes to this until a consensus has been reached here, however I will fix the dates. Thanks, timsdad (talk) 00:35, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Manchester United, titles
editThe FIFA Club World Cup is an entirely different competition to the Intercontinental Cup. I realise that the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship reads that Sao Paulo have their third title, as they won the Intercontinental Cup in 1992 and 1993, but 2007 FIFA Club World Cup reads that it's Milan's first title, even though they won the Intercontinental Cup in 1969, 1989 and 1990. I believe, even though the Intercontinental Cup merged with the Club World Championship and then merged into Club World Cup, they are still different competitions, and hold different titles.
This article should read that it's Manchester United's first title, and that the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship article should read that's it's Sao Paulo's first title also. --timsdad (talk) 03:42, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
The Intercontinental Cup is recognize by FIFA as the de-facto world championship. The only two things different from the IC and the CWC is that the CWC has a few extra matches and it is a different name. They both serve the same purpose : to decide a World Champion. I even provided a link by FIFA into United's win in 1999.—Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperSonicx1986 (talk) 06:44, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- I know that the competitions are very similar, that FIFA recognises them as the world championship and that Man U did win the 1999 Intercontinental Cup! The fact of the matter is, the title is FIFA Club World Cup 2008 Winners and it is Manchester United's first of that title!.
- Besides, it only read that it was Sao Paulo's first title here because an editor changed it yesterday.
- Also, please stop reverting my reversions until we come to a consensus here. The article must stay as it was before you changed it. --timsdad (talk) 04:04, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with timsdad. Supersonicx1986, pretty much everything you say here is riddled with POV, when you should be dealing with absolute facts. The fact here is that the Club World Cup was established in 2000 and is a completely different competition to the Intercontinental Cup. Manchester United have only won the Club World Cup once. – PeeJay 11:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
