Stampede?
editClarify what kind of stampede it was. Stampede of humans I'm guessing, but that should be made clear. At first I thought the article was about a stampede of cows. ScienceApe (talk) 18:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
first sentence
editcurrent version is:
A stampede at the temple of Naina Devi occured on August 3, 2008
previous version was:
The Stampede at Naina Devi....
If we are to use the title:
The 2008 Naina Devi stampede .... (which is very awkward).
This discussion is made only to prevent edit warring since I am explaining in detail why it was done. Spevw (talk) 20:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think "The 2008 Naina Devi stampede " is best as it seems to be common practice on Wikipedia to list the article name in the first sentence. Anonymous101 (talk) 21:04, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- However, unless there is some other stampede at Naina Devi, then I'm not sure why we need 2008 in the article name at all. All in favor of renaming this article simply: "Naina Devi stampede"? Dragons flight (talk) 22:38, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Have a look at similar event titles. Although you should not need a yeardate for an event which cannot be confused with any other, offhand I reckon wikipedia tends to do so. Also, this event needs a picture desperately. IceDragon64 (talk) 22:54, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Which would be incorrect. Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (events): "The year should not be used in the title unless other descriptors are insufficient to establish the identity of the incident". If there were more than one stampede we would need a date, but this is the only example of a stampede at Naina Devi as far as I know. Dragons flight (talk) 22:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Not so: A similar stampede took place in the shrine in 1978 after rumors of a landslide spread, killing 65 people. [1] Jpatokal (talk) 05:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Based on Jpatokal's info, I would say that the year should be in the title. Wikidsoup [talk] 18:54, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Confusing
editThis article is confusing. A clear set of events is not present. Please leave the tag in place unless the article can be cleaned.
I doubt that it will ever have a completely clear set of events in the English wiki since it received little comprehensive media coverage in the English speaking world. The only way to get a decent account is to have someone interpret a Hindi news report.--194.116.199.218 (talk) 03:09, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
What Animal was it that ran over those people???
editWhy do you ask? BTW the answer is none.
Confusing again
editI added the confusing tag, because (when I read it), a clear set of events was not there.DougsTech (talk) 00:33, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
