Article Started
editI recently created this article and filled in the match information known at this time. I have tried to start the article off organized as other WP:GA season articles are such as Bradford City A.F.C. season 2007-08, Bristol Rovers F.C. season 2006-07, and Sunderland A.F.C. season 2007–08 (this is the one I'm trying to emulate most). I would like to encourage any editors more familiar with the team to please contribute more to the prose of this article documenting the team's history over the course of the season. I will not be contributing significantly to this article beyond keeping the schdule and results up to date. --SkotyWATalk|Contribs 07:53, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
- I wrote something for the opening of the article and hope that's somewhat of what you're looking for. Lafuzion Talk 20:45, 08 March 2010 (UTC)
Competitions Section
editI have noticed today that the headings for the Overall and the Conference sections is dropped below the correct area and is covering over some of the actual standings. If anyone knows how to correct this please go ahead and do it. If you could let me know how you did it I would appreciate it so I can expand my knowledge of editing on Wikipedia. Thanks Birdy (talk) 19:32, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- I figured it out. Checked out some other Starting XI charts and had to add an ending to our chart. Birdy (talk) 13:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
New Recognition Section?
editI was looking into adding a section that would include recognition for awards from the MLS. Player of the Month and Week, Goal and Save of the Week, and MLS W.O.R.K.S. Humanitarian of the Month. The table below would be the starting of the section when implimented. The Goal of the Week and Humanitarian are examples going forward. Angel is likely to be Goal of the Week winner. Some help tweeking the wording and appropriate columns is welcomed. Thanks Birdy (talk) 20:46, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Great idea. A new recognition section would really help the article. Juan Pablo has already gotten Player of the week honors, and I think just won the goal of the week you were referring to, so we can definitely set this up. We just have to make sure to include an official report of the player winning the award. IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 16:51, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Where do you suggest that the section be placed? Closer to where the players stats are or at the complete bottom of the article?Birdy (talk) 17:13, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- For now I put the it in the middle after the disiplinary sub section. You two can check it out and tweak it according to how you think it should best fit in. I know that Angel won the goal of the week 13 but don't have a current link to the article. Feel free to fill that in too. I won't be on much the rest of the day so I will check in when I can, my brother is flying in today to visit for 10 days. Happy editing.Birdy (talk) 17:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Where do you suggest that the section be placed? Closer to where the players stats are or at the complete bottom of the article?Birdy (talk) 17:13, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Should we put this at the bottom of the page? I have a feeling there will more to add and then it's going to send the results area even lower. I think after the U.S. Open Cup Results would be a good idea. What say you? La Fuzion (talk) 22:52, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that it should be at the bottom but don't think it should move to the bottom by itself. In my opinion the article can be rearranged better to make it fluid. I think the month by month overview section should go first followed by the competition sections. After that comes everything else from the roster down to the club stuff. I just feel that the club results should come first followed by the players and their stats. Just an idea to mull over. Birdy (talk) 01:34, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Switch it and then see how it looks. If it works then we'll keep it. Let me know when you've made the changes. La Fuzion (talk) 13:47, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- I just arranged it to the way I had described yesterday. Take a look and let me know what you guys think. It can be tweaked a bit if you feel it will flow better with more moves.Birdy (talk) 18:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

- For the MLS goal of the week, I linked it to a video of Angel's goal. Previously, I had linked it to the page which simply shows all the goal of the week winners. I couldn't find an official report, sorry. Do you guys think it should be linked to the video of his goal, or to the page which simply states all the winners? Thanks. IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 16:15, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- I think either works for me. The one with the list shows that he actually won the award but the link with the video is neat because it shows the actual goal. Maybe 2 links that show both? That could work.Birdy (talk) 18:10, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

- Do you guys think it would be okay if we put the Club section at 2 and then make current roster, current technical staff, and transfers subsections? The rest of the article looks pretty good. IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 20:52, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- I moved it up. Definetly made sense to have it before the players in my mind.Birdy (talk) 23:16, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Starting 11?
editThe Starting XI chart is a good improvement but can we come up with a good way to choose who is put on the chart? I see we just had some revisions and I am unsure why certain players made the first chart and were taken off and some that were on the chart to begin with... Is it a current line up as of the last match or is it who has started the most games? I don't know the right answer to this minor problem. Birdy (talk) 23:15, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- Birdy god, you bring up a good point about this. With the Starting XI being dynamic throughout the season due to injuries, suspensions, and coach's decisions, as well as changes in formation, we would have to change the chart whenever the starting XI changed, which could become tedious. When I edited the chart on July 5th, I tried to go with the most recent Starting XI (July 4th game vs. Colorado Rapids), although there were some variations. I'm also not too sure about how to go about this, but we should try to keep the chart as close to the real Starting XI as possible. What are your thoughts? IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 03:49, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm open to lots of ideas on this considering I haven't changed this kind of chart before. It is tough because of the situations listed above (injuries, suspensions, ect.). Personally I'd keep it to who has started on the 1st team the most, not someone that has sarted recently but not more often. For example Tony Tchani has only 6 starts compared to Dane Richards who has 12 starts. Something to debate before we go changing it around 10 times.Birdy (talk) 12:07, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Now that I think about it, your idea is probably the best for this chart. The Starting XI may change slightly with each game, but having one set in stone for this season that Coach Backe would use without any hinderences (such as injuries, suspensions, etc.) will give people a good idea of what the Red Bulls strongest Starting XI is for this season. Of course, if minor adjustments have to be made to the chart (say a certain Frenchman joins the team) then we could do so. Overall though, I like your idea best and think it will be most beneficial for this article. Now we just have to agree on what that "strongest" lineup is. IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 11:39, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- As of right now I would go with the origional chart that is on top of the ones below. Those guys have the most minutes played and most games started in those possitions from what I can tell. I noticed of late some other guys have been getting into the starting 11 but I don't think putting them into the cart would be a good idea until they have eclipsed the other guy from the same possition in minutes played or games started. Just because a guy may have made an apperance in every game but only played 1/4 of the minutes doesn't mean he should be on the chart just yet. Just my opinion. Birdy (talk) 15:59, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

- The original Starting XI is the correct one. Why was it changed I don't know but a discussion could have been started before anything was done. La Fuzion (talk) 16:01, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- I understand that is why I started the discussion here. No need to be angry we can work it out here. If either of you two could look at the post above about a Recognition section I would appreciate it. I figure to add new things here before going forward and adding them to the article. We could have avoided a disagrement if the below chart was discused here before adding it to the article. Anyways thanks for the help. Birdy (talk) 16:08, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for editing the Starting XI La Fuzion. I thought it would change for each game, but that's obviously not going to happen. We can definitely come up with a compromise for this. Like Birdy god said up there, we should keep who started most. But, as of late, Mike Petke has lost his starting position to Carlos Mendes, so the chart can change, but I guess only when Mendes' minutes this season has eclipsed the minutes Petke has gotten. I guess we'll see. IMCS:SHuQ (talk) 12:40, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's no problem and I didn't notice it was you so I should had warned before changing it back. Anyways, I think there has to be a pattern of more then a few change to see if there's a change in the Starting XI. I believe that since the Red Bulls are out of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, you will see who are part of the starting lineup. La Fuzion (talk) 22:47, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Writing of Summaries
editCalling a good summary writer! We need to work on the summary for all of the months expanding the March-April and May and also creating a June summary. I'm not a good writer but once someone starts it I can give ideas to expand. Will give some ideas later tonight for the ones already created. Birdy (talk) 23:20, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- Done. Let me know what you think... La Fuzion (talk) 18:42, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- The June section looks great. If you want to expand the other two feel free. I like how you described all the events going on that effected the team and the MLS as a whole.Birdy (talk) 19:28, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- I actually did the other two months so i don't think I can add more. See if you can give it a go. La Fuzion (talk) 19:30, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

MLS team seasons
editThis article is, by far, more informative than the other MLS teams...apart from Seattle and DC. Can we fix the other ones to be like this article? 72.219.227.230 (talk) 00:36, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
