Players who are not on the team anymore

edit

Players who are not on the team anymore have to be marked as such. When I see that list, I assume that they all can play for Manchester United, but appaerently there are a couple who can't, so this page lies to the reader.Cheetah (talk) 21:34, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

The page doesn't lie at all. There is a section at the bottom that lists all the players who have left the club during the season. If one of those players appears in the stats section, obviously they can't make any more appearances for the club. Also, Januzaj is only on loan at Sunderland, so he can obviously make appearances for United if they decide to recall him. – PeeJay 22:44, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Then, we can put a footnote on Januzai saying that he's on loan somewhere else or "see the transfers". We just can't leave that list without mentioning who's active and who's not.Cheetah (talk) 23:26, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Says who? People aren't idiots, they'll work it out. – PeeJay 23:42, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Then what's the purpose of this page at all? If readers have to work everything out?Cheetah (talk) 23:50, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, what's the point in anything? What's the point in football? What's the point in life? No, I refuse to acknowledge your straw man argument. – PeeJay 23:56, 14 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
The main point in Wikipedia is an easy access to information, so that people don't waste their time guessing.Cheetah (talk) 00:00, 15 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Let's do something that is done at 2015–16_Chelsea_F.C._season#Statistics. What do you say PeeJay?--Cheetah (talk) 06:08, 1 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

This is at least better than deleting them altogether, but you still need more than just the two of us to agree to this. – PeeJay 09:35, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Do we count friendlies or not?-HugoRicciLeah (talk) 15:47, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
No. And players that left should be marked, so go for it. Kante4 (talk) 15:52, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Changing the look of the Squad statistics table

edit

I offer to change the look of the Squad statistics table to look like the one at 2015–16_Chelsea_F.C._season#Statistics, where players that have left during the season are listed separately. Currently, there's an ongoing edit war whether those players should remain on the table. By listing them separately, we will avoid those particular edit wars in future.--Cheetah (talk) 17:42, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Go for it. Edit warring needs to stop. Kante4 (talk) 04:02, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
The thing is, there wouldn't be a problem if that anonymous editor were able to read the notes. I really don't see why it's such a big problem. Those players were in the squad when the season started, therefore they should remain. I don't even think that this extra section is particularly necessary, but it's better than deleting players altogether just because they didn't make an appearance. – PeeJay 08:48, 5 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
Personally i think this note or section should be there to avoid confusion. Players who aren't there anymoreneed to be marked. Kante4 (talk) 17:15, 6 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
