Re: Philippines
editNo new updates on Manila bid, source is over a year old. There is already a new administration and Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission Chairman, and there are no official announcements from the new government. 112.210.190.89 (talk) 06:43, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
New Host
editSurabaya is the new host after Hanoi withdrew. Akuindo (talk) 10:59, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
new article
editi think the bidding, the vietnam's cancelling issue, and jakarta's reelection should be made into a new article. i think this page should has more focus to jakarta's planning, venues and other issues concerning the preparations of 2018 asian games jakarta. Ika vs Kaka
editSo what is the official name? Someone's going around changing it, but the source and comments say to not. ViperSnake151 Talk 14:07, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
- From this tweet it's Kaka. --Hddty. (talk) 17:43, 6 January 2018 (UTC)
Icons
editShould the sports section show the icons along with the calendar? I am open to anything, however for uniformity across WP:MSE articles I have put the article to having both sections showing the icons. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 15:55, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- I don't agree with you, nowadays the icons just serve like an decorative purposes rather than for encyclopedic purposes which could be repeated multiple times in an article. Is repeated icons will illustrated more to the article? It is way beyond the original usage already. For me, this issue is dragging without solutions since it thinks like the more icons added, the more beautiful the article was. --Aleenf1 16:08, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
- I'm also believe readers are more seen to the wording rather than the pictogram, the small icon is a hinder rather a support, how many readers actually can remember to the sports pictogram? --Aleenf1 16:12, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
Proposed merge with Janger Persahabatan
editOther than the song being an "official" song for the games it does not appear that a stand-alone article would meet notability criteria at WP:NSINGLE. Ifnord (talk) 01:08, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
- I think that song better be merged with Asian Games 2018: Energy of Asia instead. The theme song is "Meraih Bintang". Hddty. (talk) 21:16, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
- I agree on that area. Animation is developing 03:11, 24 July 2018 (UTC)
Proper Indonesian Translation of "Energy of Asia"
editBefore someone revert my editing into "Tenaga Asia", let me tell my reason to keep "Energi Asia" as the proper Indonesian translation of "Energy of Asia". Please search "Energi Asia" and "Tenaga Asia" on any search engine, then look the results. The search results of "Energi Asia" display more relevant topic regarding Asian Games than "Tenaga Asia".
Team size
edit@Sportsfan 1234: What is the final team do you talking about and where is the source? Actually the number from the source maybe change in the next day.
- The website lists every single athlete, every country entered at the close of entries deadline on June 30. That does not mean all will compete, and in the case of SL, that is definitely not the case. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 14:46, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Sportsfan 1234: Where is the source that justify your action? I dont ask the deadline. Hddty. (talk) 23:07, 13 August 2018 (UTC)

Yet another inexcellency
editDuring the men's individual épée fencing final match between Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Alexanin and South Korea's Park Sang-young, Park suddenly felt pain. South Korean team's own medical team tried to cure him, but the match's referee apparently told them to leave and let the games' official medical team to handle it. When the official medical team were caught trying to relieve Park's pain with a pack of ice cubes (apparently half-melted and water was leaking), the South Korean medical team finally stepped in, and treated him with properly prepared cooling pack. It was all caught on South Korean broadcaster KBS's camera. The South Korean team's medical trainer later explained that the leaking water from official medical team's ice pack made [the venue's] piste wet, making the floor slippery, and it could have increased danger from injuries.

This Asian Games' name
editPlease remember when adding the medal into the athletes' infobox put it as 2018 Jakarta-Palembang, not just 2018 Jakarta or 2018 Palembang. Hddty. (talk) 13:09, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- It's too long and make the medal template look weird. I prefer using 2018 Jakarta or 2018 Palembang. Yogwi21 (talk) 13:17, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
- Doesn't matter, 2018 Jakarta-Palembang is the proper, inseparable official name and Wikipedia is an encyclopedia based on references; no one uses '2018 Jakarta' or '2018 Palembang'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yoshiharu10 (talk • contribs) 18:54, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
