Bruno Fernandez scored 3 goals. Greenwood scored and Fred scored. Zekda41 (talk) 17:42, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:02, 15 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please change values in column 'Total'->'Goals' from 0 to 1 in #11 Mason Greenwood's row, from 0 to 1 in #17 Fred's row and from 0 to 3 in #18 Bruno Fernandes' row as it has already been done in 'League' Goals, but it has not been added to the total.   Done @Zekda41: Thank you kindly! I've taken the liberty of updating the table across the board and not just for the players you have mentioned. As I am not well versed in sports, you (or any other editor) is free to fix/submit an edit-request if I have made a mistake. I would also encouraging pinging me if that happened. League positions... again!

edit

I don't know why we are having this discussion again. It was agreed (or at least I thought it was) 3 or 4 seasons ago that league position would be recorded per match week as what has been done on this series of pages for at least the past 3 or 4 seasons since this was "agreed". Reporting positions at the end of the match week is how the Premier League themselves report league positions of all clubs (see website) due to the fact is gives a fair representation of each clubs performance compared to the rest. The position should be recorded after all matches are played per source and not after a random number that changes every week due to TV screening times. No, we didn't agree anything of the sort. Look at the BBC match report. It shows the league table as it was at the end of the day. Stop changing it. – PeeJay 17:04, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Premier League records all clubs positions following the conclusion of the match week, and last time I checked they operated the Premier League not the BBC. Mn1548 (talk) 13:18, 27 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The important information is where the team was at the end of the day because not all games are played on the same weekend, and it’s more useful to know where the team ended up as a result of their own fixture, not where they ended up due to other teams’ results. I’m not rehashing old arguments with you. I’m a professional football statistician and this is how we do it for the Premier League. – PeeJay 13:15, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
If we were to record "as a result of their own fixture", that I would somewhat understand, but that's not what we're doing here. I'd still prefer recording at the end of a full match week as that is how the Premier League do it on their website and is the only method which gives a fair assessment on their performance relative to other teams. Doing it at full time of each United game at least centres the information to Manchester United. But recording at 23:59 on the day that the match is played has no advantage, it doesn't give full and fair representation or isn't centred to United. For example last week, the way it's currently recorded, excludes comparison of United's performance with the Leicester v West Ham for the sole reason that it was moved to MNF for a TV slot, putting the information artificially in favour of United which doesn't seem fair or right. And finally, if the method of record at end of the day is how the professionals do it, why does the Premier League archive all positions using the match week method? Mn1548 (talk) 20:05, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
You're asking the wrong person. We follow reliable, independent sources, and since the Premier League's own website is not independent of its results, we should go with one that is, such as BBC Sport. – PeeJay 17:39, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ronaldo

edit

Manchester United and Ronaldo are both trending on Wikipedia, yet neither page reflects the transfer, despite the club's announcement of a deal. Why the delay? Valfarly (talk) 22:14, 29 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

United have announced the deal in principle but not the deal proper yet. It's the same for every transfer. Mn1548 (talk) 13:11, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
Why do people struggle so much with understanding that agreeing a fee and completing a transfer are not the same thing? – PeeJay 17:49, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Discipline

edit

Is it just me or is the "Discipline" column of the squad stats table a little OR-y? We're basically just totting up each player's number of cards without a source. – PeeJay 17:40, 1 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Number 7 shirt

edit

Did Edinson Cavani play any games when he was on the number 7 shirt this season? Govvy (talk) 09:24, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I believe so. – PeeJay 10:03, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
When I looked at the page earlier today, I was just looking at the note about the shirt number change. I was wondering if a note should be next to his name, revealing his stats when he had the number 7 shirt before the switch. Just a thought. Govvy (talk) 14:20, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Nah, I think the most important thing is to indicate what the player's overall stats are and what shirt number they currently wear. The numbers are really only for identification purposes, we don't need to break down their stats by what number they were wearing. – PeeJay 14:48, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
