  • No, a question. The citation says "Newly promoted French club Toulouse Olympique will not enter, following on from recent form in which they have not taken up an invitation to enter". I read the piece through a couple of times to understand what that means in addition to 'a club declined an invitation'. ~ cygnis insignis 14:14, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
Maybe a hook about the match taking place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead of at Wembley Stadium could work? The article states that it's an unusual arrangement and even states that it was due to a scheduling conflict, so maybe a hook based on that would have broader appeal. @The C of E: Perhaps this could work? ALT1 ... that rugby league's 2022 Challenge Cup final will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead of its traditional location of Wembley Stadium due to a scheduling conflict? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:57, 17 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes that could work. Though I will reduce some of the WP:OLINK on it (we don't link football for example) and adjust to just say the final (they can't host all matches at the toilet Tottenham Hotspur Stadium). The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 15:58, 17 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
  Thanks; I've struck the original hook, and we'll need a new reviewer to check ALT1. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:11, 18 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
As a fan of rugby league, I feel secure in saying that to anyone else "[sport competition I don't know] is happening at [random ground] instead of [other ground]" is not going to make non-fans interested. And fans, with the hook mentioning why, have no reason to click through to find out. Also knowing that the NFL in London has moved to Tottenham instead of Wembley, it might even be expected to some people in both camps. So non-fans have a piece of sport trivia for something they don't follow, while fans have a match update, not a hook. It's a DYK suggestion I can plausibly see appearing on a pub quiz, though. I'd actually suggest going back to the original hook, just mention that the Challenge Cup is British. Hopefully enough people know where Toulouse is that its potential appearance in a British tournament sparks intrigue. Kingsif (talk) 04:53, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Kingsif: Thank you for the review. I have unstruck the original and made the amendment you suggested. I also had to update the hook as Cornwall have since said they won't participate. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 15:34, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The C of E: Does it need to mention Cornwall? I'll do the rest of the review soon. Kingsif (talk) 22:48, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Kingsif: Maybe not. I'm not too attached to it so if you want to remove Cornwall, I won't object. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 09:19, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Article new at time of nom, long enough. Everything sourced. QPQ done. Hook fact sourced inline. I don't think the mention of Cornwall is necessary (and including it somewhat undermines the hookiness of Toulouse not being British, by having readers look away from the contrast and just think it's a list of clubs not participating). Kingsif (talk) 01:20, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure about this, the hook is supposed to appeal to all readers, not specifically rugby league fans (it should be noted after all that rugby league is by far the less popular form of rugby, so the Challenge Cup is niche as it is). Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 01:56, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Narutolovehinata5: IMO the country thing is more interesting to people who don't know about rugby league... more people are more likely to know Toulouse isn't in Britain than where a specific rugby tournament (which you say yourself is obscure) usually takes place. What makes you think the opposite? Kingsif (talk) 02:18, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The original hook didn't include British and it didn't have the context that Toulouse was a usual competitor so I felt it didn't appeal to non-rugby fans. With that said, I think that as suggested above, a variation of the original hook that mentions British, only mentions Toulouse, and doesn't mention Cornwall may work (assuming of course that people get that Toulouse is a French city). Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:22, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The C of E: Yeah, can you remove Cornwall? I probably wouldn't be surprised if a prepbuilder asked again about interestingness, though, and there's not much in the article to work with. Kingsif (talk) 02:49, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I'll just do it myself, though one possible suggestion could be to approve both ALT1 and this ALT2, then let the promoter decide the final hook:
ALT2 ... that British rugby league's 2022 Challenge Cup will not feature Toulouse?
Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 02:51, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
  All approved. Kingsif (talk) 03:06, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Nthep

What does ((0|0)) mean on some of the results? I don't understand it...

The template {{0}} is used to insert invisible characters so the scores can be kept aligned about the separator. So instead of

this (unaligned) you get this (aligned) centred (unaligned) centred (aligned)
