Vote shares for results

edit

How have the vote shares for each candidate been calculated? They do not add up to 100%, and in the absence of any citation or explanation it is difficult to understand. Typically the percentage share is only shown by the candidate receiving the highest number of votes in each party. Denham331 (talk) 19:06, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

When you know the number of ballots, you can do percentages for each candidate as a percentage of ballots cast—I didn't add them here, but I think that's what's been done. Top candidate by party percentages, which you're talking about, are a good alternative if you don't have the number of ballots! Ralbegen (talk) 20:15, 8 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Each ballot cast could record a vote for 1-3 candidates. Candidates therefore received a percentage of all valid ballots as votes in favour of them. The total percentages do not have to add to 100%, or even 300%, because electors were not required to vote for more than one candidate. SJW (talk) 18:36, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
