Page Redirect

edit

I have redirected 2023 Canada-India diplomatic row to Diplomatic fallout section on the Hardeep Singh Nijjar page.

There have been several discussions (1, 2, 3) about whether this content needs to be split and a new page created to cover the 2023 India Canada diplomatic crisis (or in this instance "row") but I believe consensus still applies given current events are still largely in line with what is already covered.

Alternatively, we can redirect this page to 2023 Diplomatic Crisis section on the Canada - India relations page. Open to this option (now that I'm thinking about it, actually prefer it) but don't think the current content and previous consensus warrant a separate page that would be largely WP:Redundant

Makes sense. At just four paragraphs, the content wasn't really standalone fodder from the beginning, and was readily absorbed at the destination – its most appropriate home in the first place. Iskandar323 (talk) 13:54, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Pirate of the High Seas:, thanks for adding content - definitely stronger than what was there before but I still feel like a separate page is not needed, especially when the content is highly WP:Duplicate with whats on the Hardeep Singh Nijjar page and Canada-India relations page. See previous consensus discussions linked above- not much has changed in the few weeks since this was aligned. Also we're missing all of the context around what started this in the first place (i.e., the death of Nijjar) A redirect to 2023 Diplomatic Crisis feels appropriate given all of the above. Speedy redirect Propose a WP:SPLIT and/or prepare a WP:DRAFT article that is actually substantive and could stand alone before creating a stub page that duplicates content. Reywas92Talk 17:23, 22 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support WP:SPLIT from Hardeep Singh Nijjar page. Support Separate page for this article, because substantial new content has come up since the last discussion. RogerYg (talk) 02:42, 24 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Support a new page - - - This is a developing thing (Diplomatic fallout). I know this thing not going to die down soon. India has also made some allegations on [1] Canada and evidence of allegations may or may not appear, but reconciliation or deterioration of this relationship would really require a standalone page of its own. If we are concerned with duplications, then we can cut the content in both India-Canada relations page and Hardeep Singh Nijjar page so as to redirect readers to this article to get to the details of it. Support keeping this as a standalone article as it's subject is notable and passes WP:GNG. No Drug No War (talk) 20:10, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
