Issues to be fixed
editAt present, the article needs a major revision for it to be a competent source for readers. Here are some of the ways you can improve the article. I hope you all can use these suggestions to ensure that this would be a quality read, given that this article would be likely be viewed by tens of thousands of readers. Thank you.
In general
- Formatting with sections: Each section following the background must be written in a similar format. You usually start with the incumbent and the year they entered office, the last election result, whether or not they are term-limited, and their intention. In the following paragraph, you introduce information unique to that race, and then give context to their challengers, if any.
- Observe WP:LINKONCE: Once an article has been linked to the article, DO NOT link it again, unless it is for a table.
- Observe WP:COMMONNAME: Rather than stating an individual's full name with a nickname quoted, just use the name used as the title in that individual's article. Use what is instantly recognizable rather than go for a false sense of formalism.
- Observe WP:RELTIME: Avoid using "currently" and preceding dates with "last". In a few years' time the article would read awfully outdated, especially with the latter as it implies that any given event is recent.
- Observe WP:JOBTITLES. Only capitalize titles when part of a name. Otherwise spell it out in lowercase.
- Use reliable sources: Most of the sources here are from Facebook which fails WP:V. At least remove those that are clearcut WP:SPS. We are writing for an encyclopedia, not a gossip site.
- In relation to the above, use encyclopedic language rather than newspeak. You do not switch positions, you are elected to it.
In "Background"
- Summarize the previous election result. If any notable events occurred during Governor Hernandez's term that could arise as an issue in the election, include it.
- Avoid stating information that are likely to be repeated. If unavoidable, cover it briefly.
In "Gubernatorial election"
- Go through this section thoroughly. The grammar here is poor. Can be tightened to be more concise, that is, there is a lot of unnecessary words.
In "Vice gubernatorial election"
- Avoid anchoring this to the last section. Allow it to stand on its own.
Common Mistakes Seen
- Adding an apostrophe (') to make a noun plural. (ex. "board member's" is erroneous as plural while "board members" is correct)
- Capitalization mistakes are rampant. Please go through the article thoroughly.
