2025 Rugby League World Cup → 2025 Men's Rugby League World Cup – As in 2021, RLWC have given equal prominence to all four tournaments, therefore 2025 RLWC shouldn't soley refer to the Men's tournament. Mn1548 (talk) 18:55, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Support, the name is used by the organisers to refer to the overall tournament. The men's competition is the largest part of the tournament, but we should not be naming the articles in a way that may imply that it is the primary competition and that the others are just a sideshow. As with 2021 it makes sense for all of the common information, teams, venues, etc. to be covered in detail in one overview article rather than duplicated for each competition. EdwardUK (talk) 16:53, 16 May 2023 (UTC)- Support, per above. Nthep (talk) 19:34, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Split - still in favour of changing the scope of the article as in my earlier comment, but this may be another option rather than rename/moving it and then having to move the host section back again - the infobox, lede and qualification section can be split off into the new article, the rest would remain here (as relevant to all events) with a new infobox and re-write of the lede to more broadly cover the whole tournament. EdwardUK (talk) 22:23, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Note that the edit history shows that for a long time the article did describe all competitions as part of one tournament with the lede of the article as "The tournament will include the men's, women's, wheelchair and youth competitions" until this was changed in October 2022 to describe everything but the men's competition as "other world cups". EdwardUK (talk) 22:49, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
- Either way results in a split. The wider point that hasn't been resolved after several discussions - see the history of the 2021 men's tournament article - is @Mn1548 original point that the men's tournament should no longer be taken as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC at every series of World Cups.
- Perhaps this should all go back to WPRL (again) to see if a lasting consensus can be reached. Nthep (talk) 08:46, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Nthep @EdwardUK A split sounds like a much simpler idea, keep this page for over all 2025 RLWC and make a new men's page. TBH, I wouldn't bother with WPRL as we've had more of a discussion here in 2 days than the same discussion on the WPRL has had over the last few months. The discussion there has been archived due to inactivity. I'm not against trying again, though I think as this had been more active, we should go with the solution proposed here re split unless there are any major oppositions that come in the next week or so. Article Names
editAs the RLWC has confirmed four major tournament for the 2025 edition, the naming format should follow what was agreed for the 2021 article. As 2021 should not be the only one which follows a different format to the rest. Mn1548 (talk) 15:26, 3 December 2022 (UTC)
- I would bring this up at WPRL as 2021 article is the one that is wholly different from the rest. Given that it would be such a substantial move away from the previous history of the Rugby League World Cup the best way forward is to make a case, engage in discussion, bring about a vote that involves your peers, ie people who are involved in WPRL, people who have invested alot of time and effort in maintaining and creating articles, and who appear to be intelligent and rational human beings. That would be your best way to close this out one way or the other.Fleets (talk) 17:10, 3 December 2022 (UTC)

Re opening above discuss.
editNo consensus was reached re the naming of future RLWC article. With the tournament now in limbo it might be best to agree on a name before the tournament is reorganised.
Old discussion here.
