Unprotection: to make substantive changes due to Yamla's recent changes was unacceptable. Mo 102.186.3.148 (talk) 04:51, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Saucy[talkcontribs] 06:38, 22 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

With the new cabinet ministers announced Nov. 20, the entire page needs updating to reflect the new ministers named and the moves by other ministers into new roles. Sprevil (talk) 14:43, 21 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Declined. To quote, Please change X" is not acceptable and will be rejected; the request must be of the form "please change X to Y". --Yamla (talk) 14:44, 21 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

There are some mistakes as well as some sections that are not updated

edit

As the person that put the update section template, I just wanted to mention that the lede still needs updating, as well as the list of ministers by portfolio (there are some mistakes), there's also a few non-cabinet position that were added (such as Jim Carr's new role). I would do them myself, but I currently don't have the time.

P.S. I didn't mean to sound condescending if that's what I sound like.

Friendly ping, since I'm not sure it even worked the first time @Dmehus, Bearcat, Arctic.gnome, Kawnhr, GoodDay, Ahunt, Yeungkahchun, and Raellerby:. - MikkelJSmith (talk) 19:52, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Note : there have been a few updates since I made this talk section, but the article is still outdated overall. MikkelJSmith (talk) 19:54, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
MikkelJSmith2, Thanks for the ping. I'm personally not sure why we're creating separate article pages for junior ministers with absolutely zero statutory responsibilities. If the junior minister is responsible, statutorily, for, say, Canada Post Corp., then fine. But for Associate Minister of Finance and Minister of Middle Class Prosperity, which have no basis in law? They are, more or less, parliamentary secretaries with Cabinet-level pay packages. I think a reference in 29th Canadian Ministry would be sufficient for those roles. Pinging @ArmosNights: from a related discussion. Doug Mehus T·C 21:21, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dmehus, I haven't checked thoroughly this article thoroughly yet, but here's a few sources for the new appointments : https://www.nationalobserver.com/2019/11/20/news/trudeau-expands-cabinet-include-seven-new-faces-names-prairies-envoy
https://toronto.citynews.ca/2019/11/20/trudeau-cabinet-minority-mandate/
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/justin-trudeau-full-cabinet-complete-list-1.5365026
The latter two sources are probably the best for this article (the list), for the lede I have no idea where to start honestly. MikkelJSmith (talk) 21:34, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I've updated the Opposition Shadow cabinet in the infobox. Though, we've yet to create the linking article. GoodDay (talk) 20:15, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Dmehus, could see a case for Associate Minister of Finance in the same vein we do for Associate Minister of Defence assuming there is a meaningful role for it or it has some connectivity with other roles / a portfolio. There are cases where the junior minister has some responsibility (some Ministers of State used to have these roles), and I think some of them there is some basis for understanding what those ministers will do (e.g. Minister of Northern Affairs, Economic Development, etc.), but I agree this specific example is a little unclear and maybe would be good as a subpage of the bigger Minister (e.g. Finance). Perhaps we could hold off on moving those new positions for a couple weeks until the mandates are official? Legislation will come out soon enough that will tell us what they actually do.
As for the Cabinet table, I updated a fair bit of the table on the Cabinet of Canada page, which I feel like should be using the same template? That one should be fairly accurate, I transcribed it from the House of Commons website. ArmosNights (talk) 21:46, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
ArmosNights, that one seems to be fine, but the one on this page has outdated info and is missing stuff. MikkelJSmith (talk) 21:53, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
GoodDay, thank you, here's a few sources for the new Shadow Cabinet : https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-ex-cabinet-minister-ed-fast-rejects-scheers-offer-of-critic-post/?cmpid=rss and https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/conservative-critics-liberal-ministers-1.5378402 MikkelJSmith (talk) 21:18, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Most of the name changes in the last round in 2015 did not receive statutory authorization until the passage of the last couple of omnibus bills that were rammed through this last year or so. All previous announcements in the media, while verifiable, are ultimately meaningless in light of that fact.Raellerby (talk) 00:13, 30 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Raellerby, could you elaborate? I'm not understanding what you're trying to say. Sorry. MikkelJSmith (talk) 20:55, 1 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Late statutory authorizations were as follows:
These dates are much later than the dates the Ministers in question had been appointed and even shuffled later on.Raellerby (talk) 22:03, 1 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
Raellerby, Oh, I see. MikkelJSmith (talk) 11:50, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

List of Ministers Template

edit

The Canadian Ministry Pages use wikitables for the list of Ministers, but there is a dedicated template for ministry lists Template:Cabinet table minister. WanukeX (talk) 17:59, 17 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
