Flick knife incident

Has it been established what actually happened? Seems like everyone has a different version of the story to me. Ozzy says it was just a switchblade comb, Geezer says he was just playing around with the knife and not threatening him, and what precisely were the circumstances that led to AC/DC being thrown off the tour? It's all a bit he said, she said. My edit that "accounts of the incident differ" was reverted without a satisfactory edit summary. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 00:20, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

I was reverting for a MOS-type edit but also didn't mind removing your initial portion, because if it was alleged then "accounts differ" didn't seem to add anything. As for what happened, basically Black Sabbath was a bit too rowdy and tipsy compared to the hard work ethics of the Youngs, and Geezer Butler was drunk out of his mind sitting next to an already bothered Malcolm Young. Geezer was either a jackass for flicking something at Mal or just his drunken state was enough to flick Mal's switch. Regardless a really tense altercation happened, tense enough to drop AC/DC from opening. I thought Mal would wipe the floor with Geezer but that was kinda it. There's two Classic Rock refs and a Blabbermouth ref where the relevant sentences are. Carlinal (talk) 17:52, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

Recent infobox edits

To @FMSky, I'm a little confused at your recent edits to the infobox, which includes using an outdated SVG of the band's logo (without removing the other logo's appearance) and removing the parameter for the head image size. Could you give an explanation? Carlinal (talk) 18:38, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

MOS:IMGSIZE "Except with very good reason, a fixed width in pixels (e.g. 17px) should not be specified, because it ignores the user's base width setting. " -FMSky (talk) 18:47, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
Perfectly understandable, thanks.
I'll add over the logo thing, however, that I don't really see a point in it appearing in the infobox, since I believe it would be better used to further illustrate the origins of AC/DC's name and branding. Not to say adding official branding in infoboxes is a bad thing, but I don't see it as the best solution in this case. Carlinal (talk) 18:56, 21 April 2024 (UTC)

Post-FAC comments

Hi Ajpolino and Pseud 14. Since the previous FAC has been closed without promotion, I have started this topic so that hopefully you guys can continue with all your issues that needs to be resolved, before opening a third one. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 04:18, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Ajpolino and Pseud 14: Don't know if you all got my previous message. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 00:04, 15 June 2024 (UTC)
Hi Vaughan J., thank you for the ping. I'm currently short on time, and am having trouble keeping up with WP editing tasks. Hoping to be back at it before too long, and then I can take a look at this. In the meantime, I'd suggest reaching out to editors who have recently shepherded music-related articles through FAC. They'll be best-suited to give constructive criticism and prepare you for the next FAC run. Best, Ajpolino (talk) 14:31, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Ajpolino (oppose)

Despite your decision to oppose the article, we were still carrying on to resolve more issues. Before closure, I cleaned up the whole article, now having less references than what was like before. Just waiting for review. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 04:19, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Pseud 14

Before closure, you were down to the 1990–1999: Popularity regained section. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 04:19, 13 June 2024 (UTC)

Apologies for the delay. I do agree with Ajpolino. I'll take a look on the prose after the fixes. I would assume, given the sourcing spot-checks to be made, that changes to the prose are to be expected. I can have another look by then on your next run. Pseud 14 (talk) 17:21, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

There is a man named Simon Hury in the member timeline listed as "fan." This is ridiculous, he is not a member of the band. JohnnyPStevens (talk) 15:28, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

I don't see a Hury in this listicle nor the article whose talk page you're in, what are you talking about? Carlinal (talk) 15:35, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
Not done: Name not in this article. - FlightTime (open channel) 16:29, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
What are you talking about...? Hury is not listed in the article at all? ― VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 00:31, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean. I checked earlier today, and I saw no mention of Simon Hury in the member timeline. HorrorLover555 (talk) 02:24, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

Clarification

File:AC-DC timeline.jpg
This image. See on the top, it says Simon Hury, which is listed as "Fan".

Readding this back, so that I could get some of you guys get some clarification. I think he's saying that Hury was in the article because of this image on the right. I'm pretty sure what he's saying is that the image probably needs to be deleted? — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 10:35, 5 July 2024 (UTC)

I agree that the image should be removed to avoid confusion. HorrorLover555 (talk) 13:55, 5 July 2024 (UTC)
JohnnyPStevens went through a weird route and back without linking this image, but I agree it should be deleted. There's no real use for it, and doesn't seem justified with a total unknown that uploaded it. Carlinal (talk) 09:20, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Criticism section

@Vaughan J., I saw that you reverted my edit to rename the "Criticism" section of this article. I don't think it's a good idea to keep it like that. Firstly because it's rather vague – I think you'll agree that section titles should give the reader some idea of what they're about to read – and secondly because sections named like that (and their cousin, "Controversy" sections) are inherently non-neutral (see also WP:CSECTION). I think "Allegations of sexism" would capture this article's Criticism section pretty well, since almost all of it is about that. But I'm open to something else, perhaps even "Criticism of lyrics" if you really want to keep the word criticism in the heading. And the "Satanic panic" paragraph isn't remotely categorizable as "criticism"; I would move that to another section regardless. Tserton (talk) 11:24, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

OL: Old image
NE: New image

Hi all, so many of you guys know that on the infobox image has been OL for the past few months. Should we change it to NE, or keep it as OL, or should we use them for the prose? Let me know what you guys think. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 00:32, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

I suggest you crop the second image if there's any hope of this being changed..... not sure how the top of heads will fly with anyone. Moxy🍁 01:32, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

@HorrorLover555, FlightTime, Carlinal, and Shaidar cuebiyar: Any choices? — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 04:26, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

  • OL. Since Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd are still officially members, it would be more informative to have an image of the two on the infobox. NE is not the current lineup of AC/DC, but its touring counterpart. If we have a decent enough image of Cliff, Phil and Stevie Young together, that would be ideal for a new infobox image. Carlinal (talk) 09:16, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
  • OL per Carlinal. HorrorLover555 (talk) 11:56, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Archiving. Final result is OL. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 03:22, 30 July 2024 (UTC)

AC/DC are not Australian. Given the members were from Glasgow, Scotland and parts of England that makes them British. 2A0C:B381:576:C000:C413:F304:8DCB:2D80 (talk) 06:15, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

Not done See this discussion above. That has been discussed countless times, and long withstanding consensus has ruled that the band is to be referred to as Australian. HorrorLover555 (talk) 11:01, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
For once and for all, let me clarify what makes AC/DC an Australian band.
Angus and Malcolm Young were born in Scotland in the 1955 and 1953, respectively. Them and the whole Young family moved to Sydney, Australia in June 1963. They have then formed the band there in November 1973.
Yes, we all know that the members of the band is from other countries, like Matt Laug and Chris Chaney is from America, Brian Johnson is from England, they still count as an Australian band, because of where they started from. — VAUGHAN J. (t · c) 00:38, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Change the members,

Cliff Williams Is now Chris chaney and Phil Rudd is now Matt laug. They will be permanent members. 2A02:C7C:DA83:EF00:CC45:5B13:A218:E3A5 (talk) 09:03, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

To comment, both Chris Chaney and Matt Laug are not official members, and there has been no announcement that they have permanently replaced both Rudd and Williams. At the end of the day, Chaney and Laug are touring members. HorrorLover555 (talk) 15:50, 6 August 2024 (UTC)

Heavy Metal???

AC/DC is not and nowhere near Heavy Metal lmao, any source that claims it's heavy Metal either have no ears or doesn't know anything about Metal music. WrestleLuxury Wiki (talk) 13:15, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Please see this discussion here. That has been discussed already, and the Wikipedia community have concluded via a long-standing consensus that it is a "heavy metal" band, with the genre being sourced well enough to define it under "heavy metal". HorrorLover555 (talk) 13:23, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
Besides that is all addressed in the first paragraph. They are often described as "heavy metal" even if they prefer to call their music just "rock n roll". That is fair and neutral enough. MaxBrowne2 (talk) 13:45, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
