The result of the move request was: moved. Consensus that the proposed title is preferable under MOS:CT. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 15:49, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
A Chip Off the Old Block (album) → A Chip off the Old Block (album) – proper capitalization of a preposition TlonicChronic (talk) 17:39, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Support per MOS:CT. The word "Off" here appears to be a preposition. Note that we also have Chip Off the Old Block and A Chip Off the Old Block. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:32, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- And Fresh Off the Boat [and Fresh Off the Boat (season 1), Fresh Off the Boat (season 2), Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir, List of Fresh Off the Boat characters], Guy Off the Hook, "Hot Off the Griddle", "Hot Off the Press", Keep Off the Grass, "Kids Off the Block", Murder Off the Record, ...Off the Bone, Pick Me Up Off the Floor, Wings Off the Sea. Are those all prepositions? (That's not an exhaustive list.) — BarrelProof (talk) 15:36, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- "Keep Off" is a phrasal verb, so I'd keep it capitalized, same with the up in "Pick [Me] Up", but I parse the rest as prepositions
- Edit: ...Off the Bone is a weird case (and album); I don't know how to parse it. The ellipsis seems to replace "Fall", so "Off" would be part of a phrasal verb as well. I also don't know how wiki style handles the ellipsis; I personally treat them as replacing the first word, but I would assume wiki doesn't?TlonicChronic (talk) 23:09, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- For Pick Me Up Off the Floor, I was focused on the "Off". — BarrelProof (talk) 00:56, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- For ...Off the Bone, there has been agreement to treat ellipsis in a title as if additional words are present. This is mentioned in Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Titles of works. But guessing which words they are to determine whether "Off" is a preposition or not seems tricky. Maybe we should leave that one alone. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:29, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- And Adrift Just Off the Islets of Langerhans, Entertainers...On and Off the Record, A Bit Off the Map, Keep Your Eyes Off the Prize, Keeps Us Off the Streets, Lifted Off the Ground, Love Off the Cuff, Monster: Living Off the Big Screen, "She Can't Get My Love Off the Bed", and (This discussion is) Off the Record. — BarrelProof (talk) 00:53, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- "On/Off (the) Record" I think is a phrasal adjective, same with "Off the Map" in context ("A Bit" modifies the phrase and doesn't stand in relation to "map") [Edit: and "Off the Bed"]. "Keep [Your Eyes] Off", "Keep [Us] Off", "Living Off", and
"Get [My Love] Off"are phrasal verbs. TlonicChronic (talk) 02:43, 29 March 2024 (UTC)- MOS:CT doesn't have a special provision for phrasal adjectives. Within the phrase, I think "Off" is a preposition. (I'm starting to get reminded of Talk:Dancing on My Own#Requested move 21 February 2024.) — BarrelProof (talk) 02:59, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- But in the title it functions as an adjective. "Dancing on My Own" is really strange to my eye; I don't think anyone (APA, Blue Book,
NYTor Chicago) would do that. TlonicChronic (talk) 03:08, 29 March 2024 (UTC)- Surprise! You mentioned NYT, and here they do it. Also like that in Billboard and NPR (look in the body, not the headline for that one) and various lesser publications. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:54, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I still agree with @Amakuru's oppose, but that works for me! TlonicChronic (talk) 12:28, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- Another recent tricky one was Talk:Always on the Run (Isaak song)#Requested move 18 February 2024. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:49, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- IMO this makes "Always" parse as a noun, which is awkward to me, but ditto to the above, and at least NYT consistently does it your way TlonicChronic (talk) 12:34, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

- "Just Off" I'm struggling with. I think it's a compound preposition(?) which MoS would suggest capitalizing the first word only TlonicChronic (talk) 02:51, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
