Proposed merge with Régie du Chemin de Fer Abidjan-Niger

edit

I just created this article, prompted by the Wikipedia:List of missing Africa topics only to find when I'd finished that a much fuller version already exists under the title Régie du Chemin de Fer Abidjan-Niger. The title of the existing article is in French, which is inappropriate in an English Wikipedia and can easily lead to this kind of reduplication. Also it is misleading because the word "régie" refers to state control, whereas the railway has been in the private sector for the past 25 years. I therefore recommend that the two articles be merged and the English title retained. Gnangbade (talk) 09:12, 28 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your advice Rummskartoffel, I agree. Would you agree with me that the Régie du Chemin de Fer Abidjan-Niger article is way too detailed? Gnangbade (talk) 19:34, 28 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
I think it depends. I think the privatisation section especially could use some more wikilinks and maybe some better formatting, but regarding the level of detail, I'd say it depends. If the arrangement Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire have made is unique or unusual, it may well be justified to discuss it in such detail. If it isn't, then maybe not. Rummskartoffel OK, I've merged the two articles, and attempted to add a redirect on the Régie page but it doesn't seem to have worked. Can you correct it or tell me what I've done wrong? Gnangbade (talk) 17:51, 6 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Seems like you put both <code></code> and <nowiki></nowiki> tags around the #REDIRECT magic word as well a a non-breaking space instead of a regular space between the magic word and the wikilink, but someone else fixed it already. Rummskartoffel (talk) 18:23, 6 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Rummskartoffel Thanks for your help with this, and for the training Gnangbade (talk) 17:51, 8 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
