Proposal to move to "Adventures of Mowgli"
editWhy would the Russian transliteration be used here if an English version of the movie exists with Kipling's original name? Calling it "Adventures of Mowgli" looks perfectly reasonable to me. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 06:37, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree with the move (sorry for not responding; this is a busy time). According to IMDB, there are about 4 different names that it was released under in English: "Adventures of Mowgli", "Mowgli" (international Eng. title and copyright title), "Rudyard Kipling's the Jungle Book" and "The Jungle Book". And it was never released theatrically in English-speaking countries, only on cheap dollar-store DVDs as far as I can tell. There are plenty of films on Wikipedia that don't have English-language names, and there is no rule saying that they must. When there is no clearly preferred English name for a film, I think it is best to keep it under the original name. So I'm retroactively opposing the move. Esn (talk) 08:53, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't care about the "Adventures of" part, but i think that it's unnecessary to write it in the "Russian" spelling "Maugli" just because IMDB has it as the main name. It's a transliteration from Russian, but it's an English word originally (Kipling wrote in English).
- Compare it with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (film) and its name at IMDB. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 11:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Reference #4 : "we dont wanna be like you"
editReference #4, in Russian, is not that clear.
I found the very intersting article from The Telegraph cited therein. Shouldn't it be included as a reference, too ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noliscient (talk • contribs) 15:55, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- I have split those references. Jirka.h23 (talk) 19:09, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
