Missing time?

edit

It seems to me that this article is missing a lot of time: there's nothing about the Pre-Harrison days at all, which were significant.

I hope someone with more knowledge than I can step in and write it, otherwise I'm gonna have to pull out some ol' books and see what I can do. :-) - Philippe | Talk 13:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Philippe,

I've been working on editing the Aeolian-Skinner page as of late. Thanks for your input. You mentioned the "Pre-Harrison days..." You may recall that Harrison joined the Skinner Organ Company before it merged with the Aeolian Company, so it would probably be more appropriate for that information to be on the Skinner page.

Baker Chapel

edit

From an article in the local paper - "Bishop Oxnam To Speak At Chapel Dedication" Enoch Pratt Library vertical file Baltimore Evening Sun April 2, 1958:

'Gift Of Alumni The organ in the new chapel has been given by two alumni, father and son, Roger J. Whiteford '06, a Washington attorney, and Joseph S. Whiteford, '43, president of the Aeolian-Skinner Organ Company, Boston Mass...'

Early role of Aeolian Co.?

edit

This article treats Aeolian (in pre-Skinner times) as if it contributed absolutely nothing to any organ ever built by Aeolian-Skinner, and doesn't even acknowledge the fact that Aeolian had already been building organs for many years.

Is that part of the article accurate? Did Skinner entirely take over all of the company's organ-building on his first day? Had Aeolian Co. already quit the organ business before he arrived? Things like these are certainly possible, but it doesn't really say.

The article even seems to be trying to say that Skinner was the sole founder of Aeolian Co., which is obviously not true. TooManyFingers (talk) 19:51, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
