Norwegians with African background → African Norwegian — Like African American. Alphasinus (talk) 21:15, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose The term "African Norwegian" is a neologism and is not equivalent to African American. This has to do with the fact that this article deals not just with Black African immigrants to Norway, but with all African immigrants to Norway. That said, the article probably should be renamed since the phrase "African background" in its title implies that all the various peoples subsumed under that heading share common ethnic origins, which of course isn't the case; they just emigrated to Norway from the same continent. A simple re-name to African immigrants to Norway should solve the problem. Middayexpress (talk) 23:50, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose The term "background" in the title is advisory. It is clear that this article is not about genetics. I may have an African background even if I were born in Oslo with blue eyes and blond hair, and my parents moved to Jo-berg when I was an infant. --Bejnar (talk) 14:14, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose proposed title just slaps two adjectives together without making it clear which is place of origin and which is place of residence, and without any evidence that reliable sources actually use this term to refer to the group in question. General consensus opposes the use of such neologisms except where they represent clearly predominant usage, e.g. Talk:Russians in China#Requested move, Talk:Chinese people in Burma#Requested move, Talk:Italians in Germany#Page move, etc. I'd suggest "African immigration to Norway" as a better title than the current one. cab (call) 07:49, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- Comment isn't this about black African background, and not just any old African background? 65.94.45.160 (talk) 04:27, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
- No, it isn't, as can clearly be seen in the article title, lede, infobox pics, and populations cited. Middayexpress (talk) 16:55, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
