Which CDs to buy?
Will this expansion include War Chiefs also? Or will a buyer have to buy THREE disks in order to play AOEIII in full? First the original, then War Chiefs if you want natives and then this one if you want asians?
-G
- I'm guessing it won't include Warchiefs. So yes, you'll need all 3, I think. But this isn't the best place to ask, try AoE3 Heaven G1ggy! Review me! 04:49, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well I think it would be worth mentioning in the article if someone knows. I HATE money grabs like this. Sigh... I wouldn't mind paying a higher price for a "gold" disc with all three.-G
- It's not a 'money grab'. It's quite common for a game with more than one expansion to require all expansions as each expansion becomes part of the game - besides, the expansions cost chump's change. --91.105.52.12 22:21, 23 June 2007 (UTC) EDIT: Besides, read this... http://forum.agecommunity.com/forums/thread/496318.aspx

Actually I am pretty sure it has been said to be compatible with AoE3, without TWC (I can't remember the source though, so I can't edit the article). Though yes for TWC content you will most likely need it (some may be included that will also be used in the new x-pack, in particular maybe the TWC european units and buildings). But this is speculation.
- are you guys saying that I can have ONLY AoE3 and Asian Dynasties WITHOUT War Chiefs??!!
Yes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.233.196.49 (talk) 15:33, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
In order to play the Asian Dynasties expansion you will be required to already have the full version Age of Empires 3 installed ...http://au.pc.ign.com/objects/906/906796.html (“Game Details...” – Heading). So basically, you can play Asian Dynasties with or without War Chiefs as long as you have Age of Empires 3 (Full Version) already installed (This is the same for the War Chiefs as well). Yet, in terms of playing against opponents who have similar or different expansion packs, I suggest then that you take a look at this enquiry and answer found here ...http://aoe3.heavengames.com/interviews/breynolds2 (It is located about halfway down the page). -Jack 03:33, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
No speculation!
Please remember that all facts must have a reliable source. Do not say that something will be in the game if you cannot provide a reliable reference. This is especially true when talking about which new Nations will be in the game. Thank you. --Twipie 20:21, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, but the Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans will most likely be in this expansion. (since they were in AoE II), but I do hope that there will be more than 3 new .. Senshida 21:07, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- WP:CRYSTAL - we need sources to confirm it, not speculation based on past games. Sorry. G1ggy! 23:15, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Development
In paragraph 3, it says:
We're honored to have the opportunity to develop 'Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties' with Ensemble Studios and confident that the innovation of both teams will deliver an exciting experience for fans of this franchise," said Brian Reynolds, chief executive officer and creative director of Big Huge Games.
A BHG guy says they are working with ES in this? Obviously, this means it's being developed by both parties.G1ggy! 11:45, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Release Date
on agecommunity.com it says the release date is in the fall
- "Late 2007" applies to fall, doesn't. And it's more global; most Australians (like me) have no idea what "fall" refers to. G1ggy Talk/Contribs 22:09, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
real site saids fall meaning sept to dec. likily in holiday season Xelas211 23:23, 1 July 2007 (UTC)xelas211
are there minor civilizations? if so; my guess Koreans Tibetians Persians Siam maybe Mongols Oceanians it would be interesting Xelas211 23:25, 1 July 2007 (UTC)xelas211
Removal of New Map section
I decide to remove the entire New Map section as it contains original research and isn't supported by refercences. Chris! my talk 01:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
the info is all from the leipzig games convention. if you want to wait for an official notice from ES be my guest but that wont be for a few months.
I don't care where you based your info on. If you can't provide any sources whatsoever, you can't put it here. It is as simple as that. Also please sign your comment with four ~. Chris! my talk 20:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Are you stupid? Sources are made by humans. I am a human. Your so called "sources" can lie just as I can. That is legitimate information. There are a lot of bad sources on the internet so why wait for one. Why not just have some information there right now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.245.9 (talk) 18:00, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Please refrain from making personal attack. Editors are often blocked for that. As far as your source is concerned, it is not legitimate based on WP:OR and WP:RS. So please familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies before you make such comment. Chris! my talk 21:07, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Only 3 Civilisations?
Why didn't they include the other Asian Civilisations such as the Tibetans, Mongols, Uyghurs, Manchus, Koreans, Siberians, Persians, Thais, Vietnamese, Burmese, Philippinos etc? --203.173.131.224 08:51, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because they all got OWNED by european imperialist. Japan and China didn't get imperialized but faced a strog infulence from europeans but India was OWNED too so it was a surprise because they controled by the British. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SoldierOfColbert (talk • contribs) 19:50, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because they can only do so much in a given amoungt of time they can't ad every single countries in asia into the game unless you give them yesrs to back the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joeking16 (talk • contribs) 11:39, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Civilization Pictures?
In the ‘New civilizations’ section do you think pictures depicting the new civilizations should be included?
Also, should updated screenshot pictures be included in the article itself, including a few pictures of the new wonders? -Jack 03:03, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Rearranging the ‘New Civilizations’ Section?
I think the ‘New Civilizations’ section should be rearranged to suit the expanding content of the article. I propose that someone modifies the existing headings (India, Japan and China) and makes them into new subheadings (1.1,1.2 and 1.3), yet it should be done in such a way that the ‘New Minor Civilizations’ section fits in nicely as well. -Jack 02:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Should the article layout be changed?
I was wondering if it would be appropriate to change the article layout so that it is all justified, rather then left alligned.
HTML Coding: (<)div style="text-align: justify;"(>)TEXT(<)/div(>) - Remember to remove the brackets "( )". -Jack 04:39, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't see the problem with the article being left aligned. May I ask why you want to do that. Chris! my talk 00:55, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
I feel that if the article is 'justified' it would look more structured and appealing, more like a professional document. Hahaha, I'm not yet accustomed to how things work with wikipedia, so I don't know the do's and don't's, and I find that there are too many help articles which are a little too long to warrent me reading them. Don't take my suggestion in the wrong way, I'm not making a statement but instead I am simply asking a question, as I am new to editing. -Jack 03:21, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, there is really no policy about such things here. These minor formating things are based on consensus, which means editors agree on certain issue after discussion. But of course, you can be bold and make the change yourself! Anyway, welcome aboard. Chris! my talk 20:53, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Information Update!
I believe that some sections in this article might need to have information added or have some stuff modified, as there is new information available, I just do not have the time at the moment to do it myself.
Please! If anyone is not busy could they go to the following sites and modify the article accordingly.
Note: These sites will be updated as time progresses, so if you do modify a section of the article please remember to continue to check for new information relating to the change/s you have made.
Also, there are screenshots posted on these websites, I would like to urge that someone should use some of these in the article as well.

- A bit of new info, yeah, but right now the article needs major copyediting. Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 09:51, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
War Academy of China
In the article, it says "...the War Academy, which is a combination of the Barracks, the Stable, and the Artillery Foundry buildings..." is wrong. If you got a copy of the game, you will know that War Academy is only a combination of Barracks and Stable, but not the Artillery Foundry buildings. The Chinese in game only create Artillery units in the fort. Petorial (talk) 15:50, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Remaining Expansions
Did you thought about how many expansions will be released? Microsoft Game Studios inserted some signs of that - savegame extensions! Original AOE 3 has the age3sav extension, AOE 3 : The Warchiefs has the age3Xsav extension, and finally AOE 3 : The Asian Dynasties has the age3Ysav extension; don't you think that will the last expansion that will have the age3Zsav? Because Pacific Ocean countries and tribes still wasn't fully implemented! How about this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.151.46.230 (talk) 11:43, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that is possible as there still no maps of Europe included in any of the expansions. —Petorial 20:40, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Unlikely. TAD happened against all odds because the community wanted it, I think the profitability of expansions has been exhausted.
Ninja
Someone added the ninja as a new type of mercenary unit but I have undone it because that exists in the original game.—Petorial 20:59, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ninjas don't exist in Vanilla AOEIII, however, they are present in TWC. In that sense they are not new. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.175.17.2 (talk) 16:00, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
Custom Scenario Builder
Bold text i make a custom scenario, but when i play the computer doesnt do anything. and yes i set it to computer control. what do i do?
GAN
Issues:
- Lead: "The Asian Dynasties achieved gold status on September 28, 2007.[1] The demo version of the game was released on October 4, 2007,[7] while the full version was released in North America on October 23, 2007.[1] The game was generally received well by critics, with an 80% score on Game Rankings and Metacritic.[8][9] " – What is ‘gold status’ and why should anyone care? What makes the release of the demo so special (was there early reaction to it?) What were some general praise/complaints about the expansion? (Also funnels into development- you mention it was a partnership with Big Huge Games and Ensemble, that could certainly be mentioned in the lead.)
- Going to suggest that you reorganize reception into aggregates, positive and negative sections instead of by reviewer like you have now, see Halo 3, et al.
- The entire changes section isn’t helpful for someone who’s never played the video game. I suggest a short introduction into the gameplay (in the lead as well) as well as a link to perhaps the parent Age of Empires III article section which describes it in more detail?
- I'll try and make the Age of Empires III more prominent, but most "expansion" articles seem to have similar content. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 09:05, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Picture
- ^^^^What is up with this picture?, it must have been altered, (the pic is about halfway through the article) I own and regularly play the game and can say this picture is not typical of the game, there is something off about it- I just don't know what, If you play the game can you give your opinion please?

- EDIT: Now I know what's wrong with it... It has the Japanese wonder under the control of the same person as the Chinese disiple! Can someone please replace this with a more realistic image? This one has obviously been staged using a mod or scenario editor (most likey and very possible in the standard scenario editor). And theres that fence thing near the shrine!

- I don't know the game, but if you say this is a more appropriate image, then that is fine. Images often get updated and changed as people find more appropriate ones. You don't need to discuss every change in an article before-hand. If someone disputes your change, that would be a time for a discussion - otherwise, it's find to go ahead and be WP:Bold.
- As a tip for uploading images - find a similar image, and look at the documentation. That will help you complete the documentation on the image you upload. I have corrected the information on Modes. SilkTork *YES! 13:25, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Japanese campaign ending
I reworded the campaign like this. The last statement saying that he ran off was just wrong and WP:OR. The game at minimum leaves it open to interpretation, but I according to me, if anything, the game hinted the opposite...he chose to remain loyal despite knowing the truth. Either way, I erred on the side of caution and left it open. Also I found that this plot was either copied from or to the fandom site. Ugog Nizdast (talk) 19:26, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
