Agri Samaj History

The name Agri comes from Agar, a Salt-pan or bounded farm. The Agri of Maharashtra are also known as Agle and Kharpatil The tradition common among them is that they originally dwelt at Mungi Paithan and were transported to the Konkan by Bimbaraja. Two son's Agla and Mangla, were born to the sage Agasti; the former the ancestor of the Agris, the latter of the Mangelas (Fishermen). The first was told to support himself by the manufacture of salt from the sea, the latter by fishing.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by WALTHAM2 (talkcontribs) 09:00, 28 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Google autotranslation of WALTHAM2's Hindi message: "The Agariya man came from Angi Paithan. Someone called Agra-Agar who came here from Delhi. In the Ravana court in Sri Lanka, the Agariya man playing dhol-tashhi, which means doing the work of the then musician. Many such stories are heard about Agri. It still seems like to say that - Agri man's culture, his traditions, his fierce arrows, his artistry and everything else is related to the soil. That is why it seems - the Agri man living in the three main divisions of Thane, Mumbai and Raigad is the son of this land. Often an Agaryan should be the original resident of this place and from here onwards, he should be visiting Sri Lanka, Agra, Mundi Paithan, Nashik and on the basis of his skill and artistry. Many experts have many opinions. Nevertheless, a society's relationship with the soil is something to tell. They must understand. The temples of Panchavati in Nashik, they have built excellent sculptures with agri stones. Gharapoor caves are world-famous. The original name of that part was 'Agraharpuri'. Agarharpuri is the city of Agariya. Beautiful sculptures showing the magnificence here are made by Agari Patrods. The construction of columns and sculptures in Gharapuri is similar to that of the Hoorul lake of Veerul. There is also the touch of the hands of Agri artists. Agri man is also a great musician, he is also a reputed music composer. Achyut Thakur of Alibaug Kopar is famous for being a renowned musician in Maharashtra. An agarani man from Kopar village had also raised a tamasha tree. Some Agri's earlier work in the mine, they were called 'Agale-Agri'. This society, with many facets, is a fighter warrior. He is more famous as a 'warrior' than 'artist' attitude.". (Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:17, 31 October 2018 (UTC))Reply

@RHaworth and Anthony Appleyard: Should we history-merge this article with the deleted edits of Agri people? Agri people was deleted by RHaworth as "G8", but there is a lot of history. Vanjagenije (talk) 20:07, 31 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
