A fact from Al Diaz (artist) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 7 December 2023 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that graffiti artist Al Diaz cuts up New York metro signs and reconfigures the letters into his own text?

ALT1 ... that graffiti artist Al Diaz makes work from liberated New Yorkmetro signs that he cuts up and re-configures into his own text from the preexisting signage letters? Same source
Overall: Moved from draft 10/28/2023. Minor issues with tone outside of NPOV, as noted below. The first hook is not present in the article. Rjjiii (talk) 17:25, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
There wording does not meet the impartial tone of WP:NPOV in several places. Rephrase or omit the following:
and identity as a trailblazer
An experimentation in hype that turned almost cultish,
setting the history straight about his integral role in the duo,
The text in the article is "Today, Diaz makes work from liberated New York metro signs that he cuts up and re-configures into his own text from the preexisting signage letters." This is a bit too far way from the DYK hook.Rjjiii (talk) 17:43, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
ArtHistorian1014 and Bogger, thanks for the work on this artist. The hook in the nom isn't in the article, and there are several minor issues with tone. The impartial tone section of WP:NPOV gives some guidance on Wikipedia's art articles. You can {{ping}} me if you have any questions or when you feel the nomination is ready to go forward, Rjjiii (talk) 17:50, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Issues with NPOV are resolved. ALT1 is solid. The other two hooks are verifiable but not present in the article. Bogger, are you planning to revise or expand the Award sections?Rjjiii (talk) 19:57, 28 October 2023 (UTC) Edit: also, you could probably work either ALT2 or ALT3 in at the end of the lead. I think they'd fit well there, since it currently kind of stops early in carrer/life.20:00, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

How exactly is a street sign "liberated"? Are we talking about discarded signage that has been removed, or is this a euphemism for theft? This is an encyclopaedia. Let's not play coy with the language, please.
