New Attendance Record

edit

There is a new attendance record, here is one source for this: http://www.sbrforum.com/Recaps/NCAAF/20071229NCAAFTEXASAM---0.aspx Anyone care to edit this in? 12.193.185.2 (talk) 07:00, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Done. Feel free to fix it up some more. Kuru talk 14:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

If the Texas A&M and Penn State game holds the current Alamo Bowl attendance record then why mention the Texas and Iowa game that previously held the record? Maybe on a page for the Alamo Bowl, but why the Alamodome? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.50.227.12 (talk) 01:27, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

The acoustics

edit

I saw the Rolling Stones there back in the 90's, and the acoustics were horrible: i was at mid distance from the stage, and all i heard was a cacophony of the music from the stage mixed with the (delayed) echo from the back. I was quite upset with the Stones for playing there and charging us for it.

Now the article has it that "the audio system" was upgraded in 2007 (i'm not sure that music acts use the in-house for-sports-events audio system). So, are the acoustics better now ? Because i ain't gone back to that place since. --Jerome Potts (talk) 12:53, 10 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Costs/constuction history

edit

How much did the Alamodome cost to build? How much of that was paid for by taxpayers, and how much by private individuals? If San Antonio is discussing luring a new NFL franchise with new or renovated stadiums, this information would be welcome. Ben (talk) 15:27, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

As noted in the article, the final tab was $186.3m. This was largely funded by a voter-approved 1/2 cent sales tax increase, if i recall correctly. The dome was paid off shortly after opening; not sure if the sales tax was ever reduced or simply re-allocated for other purposes. Kuru (talk) 17:22, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Capacity

edit

I find it rather odd that the smaller the playing area needed, the smaller the "regular" capacity.

Shouldn't the opposite be true?

Or am I missing something?

Very curious. 2600:8800:785:2A00:C23F:D5FF:FEC4:D51D (talk) 05:44, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Using basketball as an example, they only utilize half of the stadium - they dropped a curtain to block off the unused half. Kuru (talk) 10:59, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
