OptimumOnline service

Maybe give a quick overview of OptimumOnline's internet services (15/2, 30/5, 101/15), mentioning their tendency to roll out the fastest internet speeds available in the US over a cable system at any given time, probably helped by their dense geographical footprint. 15/2, 30/5 and 101/15 service are durrently running respectively on DOCSIS 1.1, DOCSIS 2.0 and DOCSIS 3.0 systems and cost $44.99, $59.99 and $99.99 per month respectively. OptimumOnline Ultra (101/15 Mbps) currently has a (somewhat controversial) $300 installation fee.

OOL upgraded speeds from 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up to 15 down and 2 up awhile back. They do use fiber to all cable nodes and maintian a low density setup with regard to subscribers per node in order to reach advertised OptimumOnline speeds, though reports are around that this doesn't happen all the time.

This page should be for the Cablevision article. The Canadian Cablevision is a small regional cable system, when the US Cablevision is not only a regional cable operator, but the owner of some internationally distributed cable and satellite networks, and iconic venues including Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. "Cablevision also carried the Tennis Channel for a brief time from October 2009-September 2011. Cablevision joined the NCTC in August 2009 just to carry the Tennis Channel on the premium sports package which costs extra per month. By joining NCTC the Tennis Channel was forced to give its signal to Cablevision. Once the Tennis Channel's contract expired with NCTC on September 3, 2011 the Tennis Channel pulled its signal from all cable carriers unwilling to negotiate a new deal or carry the channel more widespread. The Tennis Channel was pulled from Verizon but returned on January 17, 2012. Cablevision has yet to make any attempt at bringing the Tennis Channel back as of June 2012."

Separate Article for Optimum

Optimum should have a separate article, considering that it has existed longer than its parent company and there is sufficient information for an Optimum article. There are separate articles for Comcast and Xfinity, so why not with Optimum? My proposed name is Optimum (TV service). 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:5C27:2F31:29B9:AAC1 (talk) 16:11, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Actually it maybe best to hold off on creating a separate article just for Optimum because Altice just announced on May 24th that all customer facing brands (Optimum & Suddenlink)[1] will be phased out and become "Altice." Since Suddenlink already has an article a discussion maybe needed to either merge Suddenlink into Altice USA or move it to "Altice (cable provider" and incorporate Optimum's history into that article while leaving Altice USA intact for Cablevision's history. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 09:02, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Optimum shouldn't get a separate article, what should get a separate article is Cablevision. Altice will be merging Optimun and Sudeenlink together next year and this article should be about that. Cablevision, a now defunct company which predates the Optimum branding should have its own article. If two separate article exist for Optimum and Altice, where would it be approiate to discuss Cablevision's history before the Optimum brand was created in the 90s? The answer is neither, that's why Cablevision needs a separate article for the historical company.--Rusf10 (talk) 18:43, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

As of 2020 Cablevision has an article, and the Optimum name is still in use, so yes, it's time for Optimum to have an article. The above-suggested name's "(TV Service)" qualifier doesn't match the present reality, namely that Optimum's direct-mail offerings include Internet service. "(TV/Internet)" without the word service is short yet more complete. An old article (a redirect as of 2008) named "Optimum TV" contained primarily a list of channels.
