Shipping ugliness with poor grammar

edit

I removed it. It seems someone needs how to capitalize and punctuate, before learning how to read an adult manga. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lemon Muffin (talkcontribs) 23:29, 30 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I had to revert back to yours as people keep throwing in fan speculation and all kinds of bizarre stuff. DeviantCharles (talk) 18:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Grammar Overhaul

edit

I corrected as much grammar and removed as much fluff as I could without sacrificing relevant content. I suggest the copy-editing tag be removed, preferably after a second person running through it to make sure I missed nothing obvious. Laranesight (talk) 21:20, 25 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hirano

edit

The Hirano article says that Alucard started in a prototype manga for Hellsing, not called Hellsing, if so, then that should be added here. 76.66.198.171 (talk) 23:58, 16 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Name Hirano should be removed for it's already taken? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.204.40 (talk) 02:40, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copy Editing

edit

I'm trying to finish cleaning up this page, but I'm not wonderfully familiar with what needs to be taken out. To me, anything beyond a basic reference to another character and a link to that character should be removed for this particular page, as it's long enough without that information. If anyone could give more specifics as to what should stay and what should go, please do. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Laranesight (talkcontribs) 21:53, July 12, 2009

Didn't get any comments on this, so went ahead and removed everything I thought sounded fansite-like, or too in-universe. Would like some input on it if it is undone, and if not, I'm going to remove the in-universe tag and the copy editing tag. Laranesight (talk) 22:09, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for trying to tackle this, but no, it is not fixed nor done. Many of your edits were quite good, though in some cases you made it more in-universe by removing out of universe references to chapters and volumes. For general tip son what needs to go, see WP:WAF, WP:MOS-AM, and some of our GA level character articles, such as Himura Kenshin, Rock Lee, Belldandy, Sasuke Uchiha, Gaara, Sakura Haruno, and Rukia Kuchiki. In the future, if you find you aren't getting adequate responses, feel free to post at the talk page of the Anime and manga project. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 00:56, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Revamp

edit

I'm not sure if it was a good thing to remove everything removed in the last edit especially since the pistols are the character's signature weapons. His backstory as Dracula is somewhat important as well. I rewrote the page to a file and took out the original research stuff in the guns and history section and tried to make it sound out of universe. I'm going to go through the manga and anime to get the appropriate citations for as much of this as possible, since I know for sure most of this, if not all, is straight from the manga. Not trying to be annoying, but I think a middle ground between the two most recent versions is in order. I will update the page as soon as the citations are verified. Laranesight (talk) 05:46, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Keep in mind that as the manga is the primary work, it should be the primary focus here. The backstory as "Dracula" is only important if it can be properly proven through reliable sources (as, from my saw, it was all WP:OR based on "obviousness"). -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 06:17, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I understand what you're saying, and it will be specifically cited this time. If I can't find it or it's not outright said, I won't include it, and no more OR. Thanks again for the help, and hopefully we can get this page to resemble a decent article! Laranesight (talk) 17:21, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
No prob :) If you need help with doing the cites or in doing research, don't hesitate to ask. Would certainly think Alucard should have enough notability to have his own article, so would recommend focusing on demonstrating that as well by adding appropriate creation/conception and reception information. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 17:32, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Three days of looking at Hellsing manga and my retinas are burnt out. Is there such a thing as over-citing? Laranesight (talk) 01:01, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

In some cases, yes...but depends on the context. Usually over-citing is popping in 5+ references for a single statement unlikely to be challenged or considered controversial. -- AnmaFinotera (talk ·contribs) 01:03, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Okay, no, it's not that bad, good. Thanks, and I HOPE we can get this cleaned up together after I get my notes transferred. They shall be added in sections over the next few days. Thanks again! Laranesight (talk) 01:12, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

The references list is quite long, but I will shorten it with the notes thinger after getting all the information up, just fyi. Laranesight (talk) 15:23, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

The references are fine and I really hate the notes method of referencing, so don't worry about that. However, it would be nice if they were using the {{cite book}} template. :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 15:36, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I was worried about the number of repeats. I mean, there's only nine volumes and there's twenty-eight references, so it could be reduced to nine references with the notes method. It would be cleaner cut. I'll be glad to switch to that template, except I thought it would be too cluttered in the edit page of the article (another reason why the notes method appealed). Also, I don't know if the template should be placed in the article instead of the references template, or just at the bottom. Alas, for I am still a newbie. Suggestions/help? Laranesight (talk) 17:16, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Repeats are fine, though one way we have addressed this in the past is to reference chapters rather than specific pages within the chapters (see List of Tokyo Mew Mew characters for an example using this). This keeps the number of refs to a lower number. Though 28 refs really isn't bad either way. :) Now, 200 might be overkill LOL. For the template, it is placed where you place the normal references text. So this;
Hirano, Kohta (2007). Hellsing, Volume 8. Dark Horse Books/Digital Manga Publishing. p. 184-199. ISBN 9781593077808.
becomes
Hirano, Kohta (July 4, 2007). Hellsing, Volume 8. Digital Manga Publishing. pp. 184–199. ISBN 978-1-59307-780-8.
Hope that helps some :)-- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 18:06, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Indeed it did! I'll work on changing those as the week goes on. What about the tags? Are any of them okay to remove, since the article has changed significantly? Laranesight (talk) 04:25, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand how it's synthesis if it is outright stated? I'm apparently confused... Laranesight (talk) 16:46, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

As the content you added noted, there are "hints" and "allusions", but only one character calls him Dracula (which could be an identifier or an exclamation). The first line you are adding to the lead is already there (as an FYI). Third-party sources are needed to state that he is THE Dracula and to basically confirm the hints and allusions add up to what they seem to add up to. A primary source (i.e. the manga) can only be used to describe the actual events/actions/words in the series, not to interpret or draw conclusions from it. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 16:57, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
I understand now; thank you for explaining! I assume we'd need something more official than a few dozen fansites? Laranesight (talk) 17:09, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Yep :) I'd suggest looking at some of the reviews cited in the receipt section or other RS reviews, particularly for those volumes. They are likely to talk about it there. :) -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 17:26, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why the big changes??

edit

Guys, this page used to contain so much info. It's been stripped nearly to the bone. Seras and Alexander's pages have so much more detailed info. I don't get why it was necessary to strip out so much info. All the stuff about how he was finally defeated, then finally came back into being is gone. Discussion of his abilities, supposition about his origins, his massive regeneration capabilities etc. etc. Why was it all taken out? 41.11.252.253 (talk) 21:45, 28 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

restriction system

edit

Hello, i was reading the article and I think that there should be more information about the restriction system that controls his transformation. I also believe that there should be more information about his origins. Master1001 (talk) 02:48, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure that what I did was original research...

edit

There IS an Alucard in the Castlevania series. I made that edit to prevent confusion. Could you please explain why you reverted it? 68.4.214.54 (talk) 01:03, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nevermind, Wikipedia screwed up when I tried to edit the article. 68.4.214.54 (talk) 01:10, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Alucard as Dracula

edit

There's another piece of the whole "Alucard is dracula" thing that I think is worth mentioning: In the final episode of the TV series he kills the vampire Incognito by impaling him from ass to mouth on a silver spike. This was the preferred method of execution of Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure on whom Dracula was based. Just thought it was worth mentioning as I see no mention of it elsewhere. 99.99.166.179 (talk) 22:18, 28 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

hellsing or helsing

edit

Author uses both spellings... need to pick one. Also agree that article is of low importance. --RichardMills65 (talk) 06:16, 23 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

stop deleting. My edits! Please

edit

I mean seriously, I know there are fans of integra and alucard but there are also alucard x seras fans. In my opinion if you don't like DON'T READ!

For heavens sake let us have our paring! Stop ruining things for alucardxseras fans. We Don't go around bashing integraxalucard. So stop deleting my edits about alucard's relationships!

Answer: -Wikipedia is NOT an outlet for speculation on any details -That romanticism shipping fodder in his relationship with Seras is out of place speculation without real Manga support -All information is supposed to be validly sourced, and speculation without exceptional references is never acceptable -Because of that, it will be always removed -You can have your pairing. On a fanfiction site, not here. Keep fiction away from facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.108.244.69 (talk) 15:12, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Agreed! Just because someone edits in "it's hinted that they have romantical/sexual relationship" it doesn't become truth. Alucard x Seras doesn't exists, not even a single hint of it. I don't know what manga have those fans read. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.91.86.159 (talk) 13:13, 28 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

"Fictional genetically engineered characters"

edit

I think this categorie is wrong, can anyone point me to where it is said he was genetically engineered? 87.152.190.178 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 11:03, 13 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Answer: Well, in one point in the manga, when Integra introduces Alucard, she mentions something that Alucard is the result of the Hellsing's family's research. I think this categorie is a result of a theory born from that line. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.131.191.175 (talk) 12:45, 7 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
