FB AS CITATION REF
editJan Akkerman just wrote this on is FB wall page:
"My good friend and teacher in my younger yrs was Andy Tielman. Andy just died at the age of 75. He inspired me in many ways, long bfore Hendrix,Beatles or.... but even more by using the Les Paul the way he does.
Andy R.I.P.
Jan"
Begs for inclusion in a heritage section in the article, but can we quote and cite from Facebook? Anyone? Rgds, KARL
- Sadly, We cannot use FB, if Jan released this in a statement to a RS (announcing this to the media) then we could use it. Would be good to have, so look for anything from a WP:RS He's Gone Mental 09:21, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- Just checked the link you provided. It reads:
Self-published and questionable sources as sources on themselves. Self-published or questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, especially in articles about themselves, without the requirement that they be published experts in the field, so long as:
1.the material is not unduly self-serving; 2.it does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities); 3.it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; 4.there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; 5.the article is not based primarily on such sources.
This also applies to pages on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
- This looks like good news! We may use the FB message after all?
--KARL RAN (talk) 10:40, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I haven't memorised the policy just the basic gist. (Personally I don't like using social networking sites as sources). Feel free to add it in at an appropriate location. He's Gone Mental 11:33, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
REF
editAnother interesting anecdote to quote, but unlikely if the source is valid as ref.
Memories of the Real Room Rockers & Tielman Brothers.
editIt was the second time we played for Paul Acket at the Dierentuin in Den Haag first time November 28 1959. My dad Jan van der Linden working for CCKP in Den Haag had a contact with Paul Acket an Indo from Semarang and we played with other bands Oetie and his Rollers from Rotterdam, Black Dynamites, Hot Jumpers, The Cospel brothers and others. The second time was January 3 1960 this time The Tielman Brothers came and I must tell you they intimidated all the bands. We all played first if I am not mistaken the Tielman brothers closed and that was the most spectacular performance I have ever seen. Roby and Hans where still in Italy with The Hurricane Rollers and Roby Boekholt. Lots of band did Tielman imitations after that performance. I remember going home I had to Gas up we used my dad’s Citroen to transport the band the large 3 speaker box cabinet I had built to fit in front of the backseat on the floor no hump since this Automobile was front wheel drive. As we pulled in an gas station in Voorburg the end of Laan van Niew Oost Indie next to the train station overpass The Tielman Brothers just drove off to return to Breda. Lots of slamat djalan from Blacky ( Rudy Swart) since he was very aquatint with The Brothers they where driving a Mercedes. This all left a big impression on me.

Removed stuff
editI'm going to go through this article and drastically cut back on tone issues. Unnecessary bits I remove will be placed here Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:43, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Wondering if you will also tackle the much older articles: Tielman Brothers and Indorock which have been in dire need of improvement for the longest time. This article isnt actually that bad at all. In fact its probably one of the best info pages available online. Therfr like to keep the line up info for ' 'completenes' ' sake. Also think the quote is right on the money.

Line up
editRemoved as these would work with an article on the individual bands.

Quotes
editThe Tielman Brothers stole the show with their wild rock'n'roll songs and acrobatic antics. They tossed guitars across stage, played the guitar and bass with their toes and teeth, and played their instruments behind their heads and upside down. Popular everywhere in Europe, they developed a particularly enthusiastic following in Hamburg, Germany where they may have been an important early influence on the Beatles.[1]
