Wikispecies and NZOR current species name
editI started doing some research into this species in order to add to this article and have come to believe that the species name is now incorrect. According to both Wikispecies and the New Zealand Organisms Register the correct name for this species is Celeriella gigantea. Further information on this can be found here If there is no objection I'm proposing to move this article to its correct species name and edit Wikidata to ensure the correct links are in place.Ambrosia10 (talk) 03:27, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
According to IUCN, it is now "Anisochaeta gigantea" [1]. No mention of the Celeriella gigantea name there though, not even as a synonym. 82.9.105.98 (talk) 15:37, 1 February 2018 (UTC)
- I've moved it back; it was recombined into Anisochaeta by Blakemore in 2014. The Lee (1959) ref that puts it in Celeriella is pretty outdated. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 10:58, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
- Blakemore, R.J. 2014. Miscellaneous earthworm types in the Natural History Museum, London (Annelida: Oligochaeta: Megadrilacea: Eudrilidae, Lumbricidae, Megascolecidae, Moniligastridae, Octochaetidae). Opusc. Zool. Budapest 45(2): 119-155.

Copyright problem
editThis article has been revised as part of the large-scale clean-up project of a massive copyright infringement on Wikipedia. Earlier text must not be restored, unless it can be verified to be free of infringement. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions must be deleted. For more information on this situation, which involved a single contributor liberally copying material from print and internet sources into several thousand articles, please see the two administrators' noticeboard discussions of the matter, here and here, as well as the the cleanup task force subpage. Thank you. --Geronimo20 (talk) 08:06, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- The edit that you reverted was done by me. The CopyVio edits involved User:GrahamBould. You had me worried. I will have to check the orig source to see if I was plagerising stuff! -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 00:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Glows in the dark
edithttp://www.terranature.org/weta.htm#earthworms "The most extraordinary thing about Spenceriella gigantia is that it luminesces at night, so brightly it is possible to read by the light from one worm." -OOPSIE- (talk) 00:18, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- I moved the info about luminescence since it was unreffed. I will dig up an authoritative ref soon. TerraNature is not a suitable source in this case. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 00:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Lee (1959), which seems the best authority, does not mention luminosity. TerraNature may be quoting the incorrect species. -- Alan Liefting (talk) - 01:42, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
