- Removed WikiProject Food and drink. The Menier family were chocolatiers historically, but that is far too incidental for inclusion. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 18:10, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
foreign hunters?
editCan Americans hunt on the island, clicked on link couldn't tell, what does it cost to vacation there? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.118.209.36 (talk) 23:29, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, many Americans visit and hunt on Anticosti. Check the Sepaq site or Google "Anticosti outfitters" for rates. -- P 1 9 9 • TALK 23:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Locator svg broken?
editSee above. Sorry if I'm missing something, but it appears as a link overlayed on the map rather than a dot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.77.179.103 (talk) 23:11, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Nazi purchase
editThe article reads that the Nazi's tried to buy the island in 1937. That might have been hugely historically significant. Is there a reference explaining what their plans were, or why the purchase offer was refused? 98.210.208.107 (talk) 09:54, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

quarantine island
editIn researching my family history and my great grandfather's immigration to America from Ireland during the great famine, i came across a letter wherein he refers to Anticosti Island as Quarantine Island where his wife and other passengers who died within 3-days sail of land were buried and where they had to stay in quarantine for 3-days. This was in 1847. 108.215.240.235 (talk) 06:55, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
REPLY: Irish immigrants to Canada were quarantined in the mid-1800's at Grosse Île, further west up the Saint Lawrence River. Look up "Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site" on the Parks Canada website. Anticosti Island was privately held from the 1600's until 1974 and was not used as a quarantine station (read various histories of the island for details).

Anticosti island versus L'Île-d'Anticosti, municipality
editthe page Anticosti island is confusing Anticosti Island is a geographical entity not to be confused with L'Île-d'Anticosti, a municipality
in my opinion all the information concerning the municipality must be separate in it's page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27%C3%8Ele-d%27Anticosti,_Quebec
this mean majors works I propose to do my best to invest time in it is the community welling for the chalenge teamwork would be great Nichole Ouellette (talk) 12:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- There is already a separate page with all the municipality information (L'Île-d'Anticosti, Quebec), and I don't see the confusion. In fact, it would be less confusing if there was one article, because the island is coterminous with the municipality (like so many other island municipalities) - meaning everything you say about the island is also about the municipality and vice-versa. What in particular is confusing? No major work is needed here. So please propose your changes first. Thanks. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 16:07, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- I completely agree with you
- it would be much clearer
- to group information
- in one page
- in my opinion
- This is by far the best solution
- as in several islands of the St. Lawrence River
- is it possible to do this
- anyway, I will suggest first Nichole Ouellette (talk) 18:51, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- These pages were originally one article, but were split up in 2012 (see revision history of L'Île-d'Anticosti). So if you want to merge them again, you need to follow the process at WP:MERGE. -- P 1 9 9 ✉ 19:45, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- it could be interesting to split the eart's info
- hydrology, geography, geology, flora, fauna, etc...
- in Anticosti island page
- and all human facts in the L'Île-d'Anticosti, municipality
- history, setlments, census,
- both aspects as very good sources
- highly interesting points
- base on sciences
- this was my first option before you talk about one page
- if we kept 2 pages
- they should have a very thight coordination
- whats is your idea
- photos are comming Nichole Ouellette (talk) 21:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
