The article says that Java is device-specific, Java is not device-specific, that is the whole purpose of java. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hugozam (talkcontribs) 13:00, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

App list

edit

I vote for including a list of apps that use PhoneGap. Who's with me? El Armando (talk) 18:30, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, it will just mean that people use this article to promote their own apps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.248.38.83 (talk) 11:42, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rename

Rename the article from PhoneGap to Apache Callback after incubator graduation — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.88.90.122 (talk) 02:04, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Now Cordova being voted as TLP (Top-Level Project) by Apache Software Foundation Board, this article needs to be renamed has Apache Cordova http://cordova.apache.org/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by எறும்பு (talkcontribs) 16:31, 20 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Someone who knows how to rename this page, needs to GET-THIS-DONE! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarasotaslim (talkcontribs) 13:37, 14 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

This discussion is somewhat stale, so I just want to do a quick check-in before executing: any objections to moving this article over the redirect at Apache Cordova? If not, I'll make it so. I note that some rewrite will be needed. Such a rewrite would indicate that Adobe donated the code base to Apache, where it was renamed Cordova; and that Adobe continues to develop its own version based on that under the name Phonegap. A pretty good summary is found in one of the early chapters of this source:

Igoe, Tom; Coleman, Don; Jepson, Brian (January 2014). Beginning NFC: Near Field Communication with Arduino, Android, and PhoneGap. O'Reilly. p. 39. ISBN 9781449324117. OCLC 870303227.

If no objections, I'll make the move in a week or so.

I vote yes. I am offended that an open source project such as Apache Cordova gets re-directed to a commercial project.50.141.35.25 (talk) 18:27, 1 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I also vote we rename this page to Apache Cordova. Lots of folks get confused between Apache Cordova and PhoneGap. With so many popular technologies downstream from the open source Apache Cordova project, it would help to clear up confusion by renaming and editing. It looks like there was a plan already to rename this page (went by the wayside?). I can make the updates if no one objects, such as: basic edits after the rename, add a longer list of the popular projects that are based on Cordova, the main contributors to the project, and possibly some data showing the relative interest and popularity of Cordova. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonasmkr (talkcontribs) 19:50, 27 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Table looks like ad

edit

I would remove that table that looks like an ad (product is perfect and supports everything everywhere) and replace it with, say, "Access to the following facilities is provided wherever the systems support them:", with a list of the functions. It would be simpler, and it wouldn't look like a "Features" ad. Of course, a revert might then become necessary if the framework ceases to support something on a platform that supports it, but I consider that improbable, and all these green Yes's are sickening. AleksanderVatov (talk) 15:05, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

   Agreed. 71.34.241.23 (talk) 07:15, 8 February 2013 (UTC)
Agreed too. All 'No' data is a muted 'N/A', when it should be a bright red 'No' if it's a PhoneGap issue. 'N/A' should only mean that the device or core OS can't support the feature. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.239.39.131 (talk) 03:01, 3 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Citation needed for Windows Mobile?

edit

Comical as that is, I see no reason why that should be there when it isn't for the other platforms. KevinCarmody (talk) 16:57, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Feature "network" is to coarse

edit

What does the network feature in the table contain? As a simple "buzz word" it doesn't say much if anything at all. Can somebody with knowledge please either reword this or provide a footnote with some explanation or something like this?--87.179.246.14 (talk) 18:25, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Tizo

Criticism

edit

Some professional say that it's not acceptable to rely on Phonegap to compile the code, since it make the final code the intellectual property of PhoneGap's owners. Did you heard any such comments ? Yug (talk) 23:34, 13 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

PhoneGapApache Cordova – PhoneGap is the proprietary version of open source Apache Cordova. PhoneGap, and many other tools and frameworks are based on Apache Cordova, not vice versa. Currently, "Apache Cordova" redirects to this PhoneGap page, but it should be the other way around. There are several requests for the rename in the "Rename" section of this Talk page, so it isn't very controversial. Jonasmkr (talk) 20:12, 2 November 2015 (UTC) Relisted. Support but requires cleanup of the article afterwards to better reflect the distinction between the open source and proprietary elements. Tiggerjay (talk) 09:21, 10 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
