Image deleted
editThe flickr page licenses this image with no derivative works clause, this is unacceptable for Wikipedia use. Image licensed under a Creative Commons license that specifies "for non-commercial use only" which was either uploaded after May 19, 2005, or is not used in any articles, and which lacks a fair use assertion. See: WP:CSD.--MONGO 13:48, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
The copywrite issues are very complex, even to me. Someone else tagged the image for speedy delete and I checked it and it bascially is from that flickr page which doesn't technically qualify as a fair use or public domain source. Aside from images uploaded by the U.S. Government, very few images that are from the internet can be used on Wikipedia. Sorry about that. Of course, any image you take personally can be uploaded.--MONGO 14:34, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
editSuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 12:26, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
I noticed that you have been active on articles relating to Kent, Portal:Kent or various Kent related lists and hope you'd be keen to assist with a WikiProject relating to Kent, please reply to me on this or my Talk page.
If I've duplicated another Project, please let me know as I feel joining a Project is a sensible step to motivate us and share ideas or work in this mammoth encyclopedic task. Olive Oil 15:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Manston parish.jpg
editThank you for uploading Image:Manston parish.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:59, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
American football/ivy league
editI'm not into RV battles. The reason I changed the Ivy League article is because the phrase Ivy League is known internationally (mainly because of movies). Internationally the phrase Football is used differently in different countries. Take a look at the football article. In fact, What you call soccer really called association football. I hope you understand and agree to revert the change to the Ivy League article yourself. KevinCarmody (talk) 12:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
- You have a very good point, and yes, I do know that the rest of the world plays soccer without helmets and a somewhat more spherical ball:). However, articles for Pacific-10 Conference and Big Ten Conference, (homes of Michigan, Berkeley, Stanford: all world recognized schools) reference football in the opening sections, but refer to it as plain Football, wikified to link to American Football. I've tried searching around WP for precedent on this, but cannot seem to find anything. My gut feeling is that it is proper to refer to a polysemic term in the vernacular of the country the article is about; so in this case, just football. What are your thoughts on this? Have you come across any relevant policy, either way, we should be following? cOrneLlrOckEy (talk) 13:38, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Possibly unfree Image:RamsgateHarbour2.jpg
editAn image that you uploaded or altered, Image:RamsgateHarbour2.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. Speedy deletion of Image:TownleyHouse.jpg
editA tag has been placed on Image:TownleyHouse.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:TownleyHouse.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Polly (Parrot) 23:34, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 09:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
