Sequel shown in India?
editI'm not sure this is correct. The contribution by 59.93.241.169 might be placed in the wrong section. I think they meant that the 2004 film was shown in India, not the sequel.--kenobi.zero 12:21, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think it should probably be removed altogether. I'll do so, but if others feel that it should be included, just reinsert it in a different section (and without the bold formatting).~e.o.t.d~ 08:14, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
Proper title
editThis is a film article and its title should be "Appleseed (film)". It has to be moved there for film naming conventions. Hoverfish 14:25, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
What is the source of the 2131 date?
editI've just watched the movie and I didn't see the '2131 AD' date anywhere in the movie or the trailer? Where did you guys get it from? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.215.144.219 (talk) 09:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC).
Never mind. I found it. It's on the official website.

Fair use rationale for Image:Appleseed.jpg
editImage:Appleseed.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:49, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Rotoscoping

Influences and similarities?
editThe film seems to borrow heavily from many different movies, most notably Ghost in the Shell (particularly the series Stand Alone Complex and Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG) and Blade Runner, but there are also hints of everything from Aliens, and Robocop, to Akira and Metropolis. Perhaps a section should be added outlining some of these influences? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.0.147.210 (talk) 07:07, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- The influences would be difficult to say for sure and could only really be speculation. Also, Appleseed, the manga series predates many of your examples. I believe Appleseed was first published in 1985. Other anime series were first published or produced after such as Ghost in the Shell (1989), RoboCop (1986), and the animated film Metropolis (2001). The original Metropolis was a 1927 film that is considered by many notable film critics as the first major motion SciFi film and undoubtedly influenced all film science fiction. Akira is very similar to Appleseed, but reassembles much of the other manga from the 80's. I could definitely see the influences from Blade Runner, but Blade Runner was most notably known for its artistic vision and cinematography -- which to Appleseed have some arguable differences in motion style and storytelling. As far as borrowing from ghost in the shell, Masamune Shirow created both of them, and they follow his general style.4.191.75.0 (talk) 04:33, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
SciFi Channel
editI removed information that stated it aired on SciFi Channel (today). The 1988 version was on SciFi Channel, on the 12th, but the cablebox info for the show said 2004. Watching the recorded show now, it's is obviously not the 2004 version. -- Signed by Wolverenesst c 22:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
English Dub: Deunan is played by Jessica Straus NOT Amanda Winn Lee
editAs evidenced on Jessica Straus' own webpage (see here http://jessicastraus.com/Credits.html ), the character of Deunan is not played by Amanda Winn Lee but by Jessica Straus, so I'm going to change the credits on this page accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.156.150.54 (talk) 02:24, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Reviews
editEdited Plot Summary to correct errant description
editThe Plot Summary originally stated "Briareos confesses everything after seeing Deunan lying unconscious in the sand" In that scene, it is Briareos laying in the sand dying, but not yet unconscious, while Dunan kneels over him. What I didn't say was this is a turning point for the lovers. Briareos falls silent, convincing Dunan that he has died. Grief-stricken, she holds him and cries herself to sleep. I didn't feel that depth of information was necessary given the terse nature of the summary. I am including it here for future reference.
