Edit protection
editHi, I'm just wondering why this article is extended confirmed protection from editing? PRTheodore (talk) 07:35, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- Looks like it falls under WP:ARBIPA, according to an administrator. It makes sense because this tank was developed for the Indian army. TimSmit (talk) 16:33, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- I was thinking it was because it's name sounds like a sexual euphemism ERBuermann (talk) 23:24, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

The description under the picture in the section "Defensive aid system" should contain the word "smoke", as stated in the section's text. The omission of the word "smoke" in the picture description may lead to less knowledgable readers thinking that these aren't simple smoke cups but fully capable grenade launchers (which they aren't). Most smoke grenade cups carry smoke grenade rounds that will only travel 20 - 80 meters to create a smoke screen in front of/next to the tank.
Please change the description ....
"One of the four all-bearing laser warning receivers combined with IR jammer (top) and 360 degree independently rotating grenade launcher (bottom). Both are part of the ALWCS, and operate autonomously"
to
"One of the four all-bearing laser warning receivers combined with IR jammer (top) and 360 degree independently rotating smoke grenade launcher (bottom). Both are part of the ALWCS, and operate autonomously."
Thank you.
You could also include the fact that these are Elbit ELAWS laser warning receivers. The ELAWS receivers detect laser threats, which includes laser range finders, laser beams (on rocket warheads or rocket guidance platforms) and laser markers. The ELAWS description on the website of Elbit's German department (which is more detailed than the English broshure below) gives the impression that the TDS-System (TDS = Threat Detection System) would have to be installed to detect IR illuminators (installed on enemy vehicles like main battle tanks and APCs, or on mobile systems using tripods such as rocket launching platforms used for modern derivates of the MILAN systems), since the ELAWS is a pure laser warning device. According to Elbit's broshures, the ELAWS and the TDS can be coupled with a number of countermeasures, the TDS doesn't seem to be installed on the Arjun tank, though.
Please verify whether the ELAWS installed on the Arjun can detect IR illuminators, or not. Thank you. https://elbitsystems.com/media/LWS_5_Web.pdf GeeGee (talk) 18:48, 19 December 2022 (UTC)
- Partly done: added "smoke" to image description. If you could state what else you wanted changed more clearly (i.e. in a "change x to y" format) that would be helpful. Highway 89 (talk) 17:30, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
Main gun
editIt doesn't say anywhere what the actual gun is. Just that its a "120mm rifled cannon". Is it a L/30 licensed from Britain? Did they design and build their own gun? That seems like it would be worth mentioning, even worth its own article, but all we get here is that the ammunition is locally designed. Which might seem to imply that it's an L/30 gun but they developed their own ammunition for it. I don't see anything about what it's called, who designed it or who built it, even though it's a substantial piece of equipment that is entirely separate from the tank itself. That seems like a significant omission. It's like describing a fighter and only saying it has "afterburning turbofans in the 25,000lb thrust class and a locally designed afterburner" with no further details about what the engine is.
And did they really call the new round the "Penetration-Cum-Blast" projectile? Who wants to tell them? Idumea47b (talk) 06:44, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
